Scenic Arts Design Assistant (Disney Event Group)

If so, join Disney Event Group as a Design Assistant where you’ll play a vital role in the layout, fabrication, and documentation of sets, props, and decor. In this role, you will ensure that scenic and decor elements are in excellent condition, well-documented, and visually aligned with Disney’s creative vision. This is a physical role requiring on-site and in-warehouse activity, including loading, fabrication, and installation.
You will report to the Art Director.
This position is located in Orlando, FL about 10 miles from the Walt Disney World Resort.
What You Will Do
Physical Responsibilities
- Load/unload trucks and stage production elements for delivery.
- Stand for extended periods and lift up to 25lbs during active duties.
- Fabricate and install décor and set pieces on event sites.
- Stage, load, and unload production sets and props for delivery.
- On-site installation and strike (removal) of scenic and decor elements.
Production and Documentation Responsibilities
- Generate digital files for production and file layout; translate designs into production-ready assets.
- Create and prepare graphic art design assets for scenic and decor elements, ensuring alignment with Disney’s design vision.
- Prepare, deliver, and coordinate electronic graphic art files for fabrication; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Photograph, describe, and maintain a comprehensive, updated inventory of scenic and decor assets.
- Maintain and update the scenic and decor visual inventory site.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to align warehouse operations with project goals and event schedules.
- Contribute to the fabrication process and provide cross-functional support as needed.
Inventory, Safety, and Operations
- Inspect, maintain, and document scenic and decor inventory for readiness.
- Maintain warehouse safety, organization, security, clear aisles, and secure daily opening/closing procedures.
- Maintain accurate electronic records of inventories, supplies, and maintenance; assist with routine counts and audits.
- Oversee operation and routine maintenance of fabrication machinery; coordinate repairs with external vendors, as needed.
- Order, track, and coordinate warehouse supplies; ensure operational needs are met.
- Enforce safety protocols and best practices for warehouse operations and equipment usage.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in both warehouse and design/fabrication areas.
- Communicate clearly with all team members and stakeholders to meet design and operational expectations.
- Ensure ongoing training compliance, including OSHA/regulatory requirements and company safety standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in a warehouse or inventory environment
- Strong graphic design skills; proficient in electronic art file preparation and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and related machinery.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while meeting project deadlines and safety standards.
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to upholding Disney’s creative and operational standards.
- Personal transportation to and from The Walt Disney World Resort Property.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience with scenic or event production including theater props fabrication.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with 3D printing and operating CNC machines.
- Familiar with industry software trends and production workflows.
