Our customers are public safety agencies, governments, and military organizations that use our mission-critical communications systems. The Security Update Service team, part of the Motorola Solutions cybersecurity services organization, protects mission-critical systems by ensuring security updates are verified, tested, and installed.
As a hybrid security update service technician, you will be responsible for applying monthly and quarterly operating system security patch updates to mission critical systems and ensuring they are protected from cyber threats. This position will follow documented processes to ensure that critical infrastructure is returned to service as soon as possible in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Verify and apply security patches and updates for Windows and Linux based operating systems, VMware solutions, and other technologies
Troubleshoot system and network issues that result from updates
Work directly with customers to provide reporting and status of updates
Communicate relevant patch information with customers and other teams
Coordinate with Motorola and customers for scheduled maintenance
Perform preventative maintenance checks to ensure proper system operation
Hands on experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
High level knowledge of networking concepts (i.e. network devices, IP addresses, ports, and protocols)
High level knowledge of virtualization concepts (VMWare ESXI)
Experience performing troubleshooting, break fix, or technical support on Windows or Linux operating systems
Preferred Skills:
Hands on experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems
Ability to travel up to 25%
Strong organizational skills
Strong networking experience preferred
Required Skills:
High School diploma, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or Technology
2+ years of experience working as a Technician is required.
Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contracts
