Job Description

Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and related supporting schedules of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries. This role involves maintaining the accuracy of the entity’s books of record, including the general ledger, fixed asset ledger, cash receipts, disbursements, accounts payable, and travel ledger. The Senior Accountant works under general supervision, exercising discretionary and substantial decision-making authority, and contributes to improving accounting processes and developing junior team members.

Must Have:
  • Maintain the general ledger of larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Review and approve general ledger account reconciliations and/or journal entries.
  • Prepare account analyses for management and internal/external auditors.
  • Compile and analyze financial information.
  • Make recommendations for improving accounting processes and assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Financial Planning & Reporting Manager in the development of junior members of the department.
  • Facilitate “Lean” principles and creating efficiencies within the department.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of public accounting or general accounting experience, preferably in a government contracting and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant certification.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external auditors.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, work under deadlines.
  • Exude a can-do attitude and possess a strong dedication to providing quality service to management.
  • Experience in handling team by providing guidance on day-to-day works and handling stakeholders.
  • Successful outcome of a National Police Check and background check.
  • Open to work under different shifts to adhere to business requirements.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the preparation of financial statements and related supporting schedules of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries. Maintains or helps to maintain the accuracy of the entity’s related books of record such as the general ledger, fixed asset ledger, cash receipts and disbursements, accounts payable distribution, and travel ledger. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains the general ledger of the larger and more complex Cubic subsidiaries
  • Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Reviews and approves general ledger account reconciliations and/or journal entries
  • Prepares account analyses for management and internal/external auditors
