Job Summary
Join Autodesk's Applied ML team as a remote/hybrid Senior Applied Scientist. This role focuses on understanding customer usage and promoting Autodesk products, influencing development and strategy. You will design machine learning pipelines to enhance decision-making, collaborate with cross-functional leaders for data-driven decisions, and mentor junior team members. The position requires a machine learning expert with a proven track record of developing high-quality ML models and conducting statistical analysis, applying the latest technologies to solve complex problems, and experience with analytics related to data products.
Must Have
- MS/PhD in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Statistics/Analytics, Computer Science)
- Experience with Large Language Models (RAG, Generative AI) and NLP
- 4+ years of industry experience in designing, analyzing, and deploying machine learning-based solutions
- Experience working with relational SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Fluency with one or more programming languages (Python, Java, Scala)
- Experience with data science toolkits (pandas, Jupyter, scikit, TensorFlow)
- Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques (classification, clustering, regularization, optimization, dimension reduction)
- Experienced in writing high quality, well-documented, scalable code, with Python proficiency
- Experience working with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Hive)
- Ability to clearly convey complex or technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Familiarity with cloud computing (AWS)
- Experience with recommender systems
Good to Have
- Possess the initiative to take on big ideas, transforming them into insights through data mining
- Familiarity with MLOps and optimizing ML workflows
- Led research that resulted in publications

Responsibilities
- You will focus on understanding customer usage and promoting Autodesk products, influencing development and strategy
- You will design machine learning pipelines to enhance decision-making and collaborate with cross-functional leaders for data-driven decisions
- You will report to the Applied ML Manager, mentor junior team members, and help deliver key ML features
Minimum Qualifications
- MS/PhD in a quantitative field: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Statistics/Analytics, Computer Science, or other relevant fields
- Experience with Large Language Models (RAG, Generative AI) and NLP
- 4+ years of industry experience and a passion for designing, analyzing, and deploying machine learning-based solutions
- Experience working with relational SQL and/or NoSQL databases
- Fluency with one or more programming languages: Python, Java, Scala, etc.
- Experience with data science toolkits like: pandas, Jupyter, scikit, TensorFlow, etc.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques, e.g., classification, clustering, regularization, optimization, dimension reduction, etc.

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $106,500 and $156,200. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
