Job Description
As a Backend Engineer at Animoca Brands, you will be part of the Engineering Team in Hong Kong, providing support across all projects. You will collaborate with various teams to deliver scalable and high-performance backend solutions. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure for blockchain games and digital platforms. This involves ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of backend services while also optimizing and refactoring existing codebases for performance and maintainability. You will be working with cloud services, troubleshooting technical issues, and staying updated with the latest technologies.
Must have:
- Strong backend engineering skills with Node.js, PHP, Spring, and Scala.
- Proficiency in cloud services: AWS, Postgres, RDS, Redis.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design and database management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Good to have:
- Experience with Golang and Python is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

In this role, you will provide engineering support across all Animoca Brands projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions. You will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure that powers our diverse portfolio of blockchain games and digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs for multiple Animoca Brands projects.
- Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features and enhancements.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of backend services.
- Optimize and refactor existing codebases for performance and maintainability.
- Integrate with cloud services (AWS, RDS, Redis, Postgres) and manage cloud infrastructure as needed.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues across various projects.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in backend development and cloud services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong backend engineering skills with hands-on experience in Node.js, PHP, Spring, and Scala.
- Proficiency in cloud services: AWS, Postgres, RDS, Redis.
- Experience with Golang and Python is highly desirable.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and database management.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Passion for blockchain, gaming, and digital innovation is a plus.
