Job Summary
WSP is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for the Defence Riverina Redevelopment Programme, focusing on construction phase civil works. This role involves supporting frequent construction activities across three defence bases in the Wagga Wagga or Albury Wodonga area. Responsibilities include site inspections, reporting, liaising with design teams and local authorities, and collaborating with other consultants to ensure project success and enhance WSP's Property & Buildings team's reputation.
Must Have
- Attend civil engineering site inspections at 3 bases.
- Provide inspection reports and collate associated evidence.
- Be available to attend meetings with local authorities or Council.
- Communicate and liaise with the existing WSP project design team.
- Work in conjunction with other local consultants.
- Provide escort services for other WSP team members.
- Hold a Bachelor to Masters’ level degree in Civil Engineering.
- Possess excellent expertise in civil engineering and design documentation.
- Have sound working knowledge of relevant Standards and Codes.
- Demonstrate solid industry experience on Australian civil engineering projects.
- Exhibit high level of expertise in delivering multiple, concurrent projects.
- Show sound client facing and account/relationship management skills.
- Possess excellent project management skills, including managing civil engineering teams.
- Be adept in cross-discipline project delivery.
- Demonstrate highly developed customer-focus, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills.

Expressions of Interest Invited – Defence Riverina Project – Construction Phase Civil works - Local Project Representative
The Riverina Redevelopment Programme involves the redevelopment of 3 defence bases:
Blamey Barracks Kapooka, RAAF Base Wagga and Albury Wodonga Military Area
The Redevelopment works include major upgrades and refurbishment of in-ground services, new and improved road and footpath infrastructure, base entrances/intersections and dozens of new buildings such as accommodation, training and messing buildings.
Design has been completed for the project and construction has commenced. WSP are exploring the possibility of hiring an engineer to live locally in the Wagga Wagga or Albury Wodonga area and support the frequent construction activities of the project.
What you’ll do:
This role is intended to service the construction phase of the project which would include the following general requirements:
- Attend civil engineering site inspections at the 3 bases as required to undertake hold point witness inspections, review latent conditions or Requests for Information from the contractors on-site etc. Nominally 2-3 days per week at peak periods.
- Provide inspection reports and collate associated evidence such as site photos etc.
- Be available to attend meetings with local authorities or Council etc. if required.
- Communicate and liaise with the existing WSP project design team to communicate any information identified on site and work collaboratively with the WSP designers to resolve any discrepancies.
- Work in conjunction with other local consultants that WSP engages for the construction phase, including other local civil engineers who will support in peak periods.
- Provide escort services if required to enable other WSP team members to undertake site activities such as civil, traffic, ecology, arborist, contamination and geotechnical services etc.

About You
- Bachelor to Masters’ level degree (Civil Engineering)
- Chartered status with Engineers Australia (desirable)
- Excellent expertise in civil engineering and design documentation, including sound working knowledge of relevant Standards and Codes
- Solid industry experience on Australian civil engineering projects, ideally in a consulting environment
- High level of expertise in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging and scale and sector
- Sound client facing and account/relationship management skills
- Excellent project management skills, including managing civil engineering teams
- Adept in cross-discipline project delivery and an effective collaborator with all key engineering disciplines
- Highly developed customer-focus, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
