Job Summary
WSP is seeking an Associate Occupational Hygiene Consultant to join their team in Victoria, Australia. This role focuses on protecting workers' health and guiding clients on health, safety, and legislative compliance regarding workplace and occupational exposure. The consultant will be involved in business development, project delivery, client relationship management, and conducting comprehensive health risk assessments for various hazards. The position requires 10+ years of experience in hazardous material assessment and workplace hazard measurement.
Must Have
- Business development, project delivery and client relationship management
- Conducting comprehensive occupational health risk assessments for hazards including silica, noise, chemical exposures, vibration, lead, asbestos, biological hazards, and indoor air quality
- Managing hazardous materials assessment projects including Division 5 and 6
- Designing effective strategies for hazard remediation and prevention management
- Managing technical supervision, clearance inspections and monitoring during site remediation works
- Assessing health risks and provide expert advice with support from senior technical specialists and Certified Occupational Hygienists (COH)
- Collaborating with cross-disciplinary working in acoustics, contaminated land, engineering and fire safety
- Producing technical reports to a high standard, including technical peer review of reports
- Assisting the team with strategy and business development
- Nurturing client relationships to expand regional business opportunities
- 10+ years of experience in the assessment and remediation of hazardous material and/or measuring and assessing workplace hazards
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health or Environmental Science
- Previous consultancy experience is required
- Good understanding of project life cycle whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
- Confidence to communicate hazards and risks with clients, from the boardroom to the field
- Experience in analysing complex results and datasets, and writing technical reports
- Strong knowledge of work health and safety regulations, or health risk assessment
- High attention to detail and responsive to clients’ needs
- Willing to work in remote locations, with occasional weekends and overtime
- Australian Driver's License
Good to Have
- Licenced Asbestos Assessor certification
- Business development experience including development of winning proposals and building ongoing client relationships

As an Associate Occupational Hygiene Consultant in WSP in Australia's Occupational Hygiene and Hazardous Materials team, your primary focus is to protect workers' health and provide guidance to clients in meeting their health, safety, and legislative requirements regarding the workplace, and occupational exposure.

What you’ll do
Working within an energetic team environment to maintain a high standard of client delivery, technical quality, thriving team culture, and high performance. WSP is in need of someone to join the team in Victoria and assist in building the teams pipeline and capability. Responsibilities include:
- Business development, project delivery and client relationship management
- Conducting comprehensive occupational health risk assessments for hazards including but not limited to silica, noise, chemical exposures, vibration, lead, asbestos, biological hazards, and indoor air quality
- Managing hazardous materials assessment projects including Division 5 and 6

About you
You are likely to have 10+ years of experience in the assessment and remediation of hazardous material and/or measuring and assessing workplace hazards including chemical, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards.
You will ideally bring the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Hygiene, Health or Environmental Science
- Licenced Asbestos Assessor certification preferred
- Previous consultancy experience is required
- Business development experience will be highly regarded including development of winning proposals and building ongoing client relationships
