Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a part-time variable Safety, Health & Environmental Officer for onsite assignments in Billings, MT, with required travel to project sites. The role involves implementing AECOM's Health and Safety Plans, generating Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Plans, performing onsite orientations, leading daily safety meetings, and overseeing construction and environmental work. Responsibilities also include tracking contractor compliance, documenting non-compliance, reviewing incident reports, and promoting environmental safety and health activities to ensure regulatory standards are enforced.

Must Have

  • Implement the requirements of AECOM’s Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)
  • Generate and/or support team members in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Plans (SWPs)
  • Perform on-site health and safety orientations for workers and visitor orientations
  • Participate in project team meetings as required and discuss any health and safety related topics
  • Lead daily safety tailgate meetings with AECOM staff and AECOM’s subcontractors on-site
  • Perform on-site health and safety oversight of construction and environmental work
  • Track and monitor the Contractor’s compliance with HASP(s), JHA(s) and SWP(s)
  • Perform and submit reports of the Contractors’ Work areas and document non-compliance
  • Review Contractor’s incident reports for adequacy, participate in meetings related to construction related incidents, and verify all necessary Contractor corrective actions are implemented
  • Implement policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with AECOM and Client health and safety requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and functional guidance to ensure regulatory standards are being enforced
  • Serve in a liaison capacity with other AECOM or Client safety representatives
  • Communicate programs to enhance employee awareness of prevention and compliance
  • BA/BS in Safety, Environmental, or other Science or related degree plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency
  • Subject to a background check, MVR check, and enrollment in drug screening program
  • US citizenship is required

Job Description

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing the requirements of AECOM’s Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) in accordance with AECOM, OSHA and Client-specific requirements.
  • Generate and/or support team members in preparation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Safe Work Plans (SWPs) in accordance with AECOM and Client standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Safety, Environmental, or other Science or related degree plus 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • The role is subject to a background check, MVR check, and enrollment in drug screening program
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Safety, Environmental, or other Science or related degree plus 5 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
