Senior Hydrogeologist / Argentina

WSP Argentina is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist to lead complex hydrogeological studies for the mining industry, focusing on both field and office work, particularly report generation. The role involves aquifer characterization, groundwater source evaluation, mine-aquifer interaction analysis, and water quality management. The ideal candidate will ensure robust technical solutions for large-scale mining projects, contributing to design, environmental assessment, and operational processes while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Must Have

• Lead hydrogeological studies (design, execution, analysis)
• Develop and validate conceptual and numerical hydrogeological models (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC)
• Evaluate pit drainage, tailings dams, waste dumps
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and water permits
• Professional degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or related field
• Minimum 12 years experience in hydrogeological studies applied to mining
• Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling tools (Leapfrog, Aquifertest)
• Advanced knowledge in numerical modeling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC)
• Proficiency in GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS)
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and water permits

• Postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology (master's or specialization)
• Experience in interaction with communities and environmental authorities

About this opportunity:

At WSP Argentina, we are looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist to join our Water team.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading highly technically complex hydrogeological studies applied to the mining industry, both in the field and in the office. For this opportunity, we are looking for office experience given the need to produce reports.

The role focuses on aquifer characterization, groundwater source evaluation, mine-aquifer interaction analysis, and water quality management, ensuring robust technical solutions for large-scale mining projects.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients, authorities, and communities.
• Lead hydrogeological studies in all their stages: design, execution, and analysis.
• Actively participate in mining projects involving drilling campaigns, hydraulic tests, and groundwater monitoring.
• Develop and validate conceptual and numerical hydrogeological models (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC).
• Evaluate pit drainage, tailings dams, waste dumps, and other operational facilities.
• Provide technical support in design, environmental evaluation, and mining operation processes.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits related to water resources.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and lead interaction with stakeholders (communities, environmental authorities).

Requirements:

Academic Background:

• Professional degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
• Postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology (master's or specialization desirable).

Experience:

• Minimum 12 years in hydrogeological studies applied to mining.
• Experience in large-scale and highly technically complex projects.

Technical Knowledge:

• Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling tools (Leapfrog, Aquifertest).
• Advanced knowledge in numerical modeling (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC).
