Job Summary
The Director of Technology at TelevisaUnivision Atlanta, GA, will supervise and execute the installation, maintenance, and repair of TV studio/transmitter equipment, ensuring compliance with FCC technical requirements. This role involves maintaining telecommunications equipment, computers, networking systems, and integrating platforms for online content. The Director will support a top market news production operation, manage engineering staff, establish maintenance procedures, and ensure compliance with various regulations. They will also contribute to budget management and strategic planning for station growth.
Must Have
- Supervise and execute installation, maintenance and repair of TV studio/transmitter equipment
- Maintain signals in the market while complying with all FCC technical requirements
- Maintain telecommunications equipment, computers, networking systems and integrating platforms for online content
- Work closely with all departments including News, Production, Promotions and Sales
- Support and maintain a top market news production operation
- Maintain station operation through preventive and corrective maintenance
- Supervision of engineering staff members and contractors as needed
- Establish and follow routine maintenance procedures and schedules for all broadcast equipment
- Ensure station compliance with rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal, laws
- Perform necessary measurements of equipment performance
- Install and perform maintenance on control consoles, routers, recording equipment, microphones, digital audio systems, transmitters, antennas, control systems, remote equipment
- Provide maintenance and support of computer networks and related systems
- Basic HVAC troubleshooting and operational maintenance, including water cooling systems
- Work with the TV news and Operations department to maintain broadcast equipment as needed
- Partner with local Finance Lead to develop and manage Engineering operational budgets and provide feedback for monthly and quarterly reporting
- Help Develop short and long-term plans to support the growth of the station’s capabilities in accordance with business needs, corporate plans, and changing market requirements
- Coordinate with corporate engineering on emerging technologies, corporate initiatives, and implementation guidance

Job Description
The Engineering department at TelevisaUnivision Atlanta, GA is looking for a Director of Technology to join our diverse and energetic team!
The Director of Technology supervises and executes the installation, maintenance and repair of TV studio/transmitter equipment to maintain signals in the market while complying with all FCC technical requirements. Responsibilities include maintenance of telecommunications equipment, computers, networking systems and integrating platforms for online content. The DOT will work closely with all departments including News, Production, Promotions and Sales.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work with the TelevisaUnivision Engineering team supporting a leading local market News operation. The candidate will have many opportunities to learn and work on systems such as production systems and switchers and audio consoles, related terminal gear and graphics equipment.
YOUR DAY-to-DAY
- Supports and maintains a top market news production operation.
- Maintains station operation through preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Supervision of engineering staff members and contractors as needed.

PLANNING, GROWTH, & ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES;
- Partner with local Finance Lead to develop and manage Engineering operational budgets and provide feedback for monthly and quarterly reporting.

- Coordinate with corporate engineering on emerging technologies, corporate initiatives, and implementation guidance.
YOU HAVE
- Education: Requires a BSEE, BS-Information Technology/Computer Science or ASEE or equivalent relevant Broadcast Industry experience. Technical training or experience with a substantial record of successful work in Broadcast or directly related allied industries. FCC General Class License, SBE Certifications, Computer Networking certifications (Comp TIA+ or CCNA), and VMWare certification desired.
- Work Experience: Must have experience maintaining and troubleshooting high power TV transmitters and antenna systems along with in-depth knowledge of ATSC encoding, modulation, and signal analysis methodologies. Experience supporting Live Television Production activities. A combination of ten (10) years of Television/Radio Broadcast engineering, hands-on experience including supervisory roles in a unionized or non-unionized environment. Successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and excellent team leadership skills.
- Other Required Skills:
- Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays on short notice as needed, and as part of on-call broadcast-critical escalation. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Good understanding of applicable FCC rules and regulations
- Computer literacy in applicable software packages (Microsoft OS and Office Suite)
- Working knowledge of computer networking technology.
- Ability to troubleshoot broadcast equipment to the component level.
- Must be a team player willing to work with and accomplish repairs and assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of generators and UPS systems.
- Ability to read and interpret design documentation, including elevations, connection drawings and schematics.
- Ability to maintain documentation to keep pace with changes.
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to (50) lbs. Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, and sit up to (8) hours.
