The Embassy is hiring a Senior Compositor for a short-term advertising project. This Oscar-nominated Canadian production house specializes in live-action production, post-production, and animation for films, television, and commercials, with expertise in visual effects. The ideal candidate is an experienced Compositor with at least 3 years of experience in commercials, film, or TV, proficient in Nuke, and capable of creating final shots aligned with artistic direction. Responsibilities include finalizing shot appearance, color balance, quality, creating uniformity, solving design challenges, performing full shot compositing (keying, paint, roto), collaborating with peers, and meeting deadlines.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of Compositing experience
  • Excellent with Nuke
  • Solid understanding of shot elements
  • Strong VFX pipeline understanding
  • Ability to take direction
  • Keen eye for color
  • Excellent communication skills

About You

You are an experienced Compositor with solid production experience working on a variety of shows, films and commercials. Your demo reel showcases your diverse skill set as a Compositor – you composite different types of shots, ranging from simple to moderate and complex shots. You bring a solid understanding of the production pipeline and experience in creating final shots that are in alignment with the team’s artistic direction.

Your Role

  • Finalizes the overall look, colour balance, and quality for shots and sequences
  • Creates uniformity and seamless transitions between footage and composited elements
  • Establish certain looks and/or solve particular design or effects challenges for key visual effects shots;
  • Full shot compositing including keying, paint & roto when required
  • Collaborate with other compositors & supervisors to share knowledge and techniques
  • Meet project milestones and deadlines on time
  • Make corrections and adjustments requested by the supervisor

Your Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Compositing experience in commercials, film, or TV
  • Excellent with Nuke. Knowledge of other compositing, finishing & editorial tools is an asset
  • Solid understanding of all elements and visual aspects of a shot
  • Strong understanding of multiple aspects of the VFX pipeline
  • Ability to take direction positively and work well within a team
  • Possess a keen eye for colour and colour matching
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment.

Salary Range: $49.00 - $56.00 per hour. 

This range denotes the minimum and maximum compensation limits for this role within the province of British Columbia, adhering to local legal requirements. It's essential to recognize that the salary range for this position may vary when compared to markets outside of British Columbia, with potential variations in both lower and higher figures. The base pay offered is contingent upon factors including internal equity assessments and elements such as the candidate's geographic location, job-related expertise, skills, experience, and other pertinent qualifications.
