Job Description

Actian, a leader in hybrid data management, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for its rapidly growing Zeenea France team. This role involves leading and inspiring engineers to build world-class data intelligence solutions. You will drive technical excellence, foster innovation, and ensure alignment between product vision and engineering execution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality software. As a hands-on technical leader, you will guide teams in adopting best practices and modern architectures to accelerate delivery and maintain high standards.
Must Have:
  • Partner with VP of Engineering to shape and scale the engineering organization.
  • Monitor key organizational health metrics.
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of engineering and technical leadership.
  • Define, implement, and oversee engineering-wide processes.
  • Collaborate with Product and other functions to improve cross-functional alignment.
  • Work closely with engineers on technical designs, architecture, and product design.
  • Design and roll out the engineering career development strategy.
  • Identify high-potential engineers and support succession planning and mentoring.
  • Foster a strong engineering community through events and knowledge-sharing.
  • Promote a unified managerial culture across engineering leadership.
  • Act as a point of contact and trusted advisor for engineers.
  • Support team leads in their leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong background in technical management, engineering leadership, software design, and architecture.
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a SaaS product organization.
  • Experience in a scale-up context.
  • Deep understanding of engineering career dynamics and talent management.
  • Solid grasp of organizational design, team structuring, and scaling best practices.
  • Familiarity with modern people and talent growth practices.
  • Strong cross-functional and cross-hierarchical leadership.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with operational execution capabilities.
  • Proactive, structured, and autonomous in leading initiatives.

We are now seeking a Senior Engineering Manager [gn] to lead and inspire a team of talented engineers in building world-class data intelligence solutions that make complex data simple, trusted, and accessible.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering innovation, and ensuring alignment between product vision and engineering execution. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — product, design, and architecture — to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions that power our global data platforms.

You will join a dynamic environment where your leadership will directly influence team performance, product quality, and the overall engineering culture. As a hands-on technical leader, you’ll also guide your teams in adopting best practices, modern architectures, and efficient development processes to accelerate delivery and maintain Actian’s high standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the VP of Engineering to shape, evolve and scale the engineering organization (engineering roles, feature teams, enabling teams, platform teams, responsibilities, spans of control).
  • Monitor key organizational health metrics (team ratios, org structure, bandwidth, efficiency).
  • Contribute to the long-term vision of engineering and technical leadership.
  • Define, implement, and oversee engineering-wide processes: onboarding, performance management, feedback, staffing
  • Collaborate with Product and other functions to improve cross-functional collaboration and alignment.
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure alignment of technical designs, architecture and product design
  • Design and roll out the engineering career development strategy, including career paths, seniority levels, skills and roles framework, mobility opportunities, and advancement criteria.
  • Identify high-potential engineers and support succession planning and mentoring initiatives.
  • Foster a strong engineering community through events and knowledge-sharing practices.
  • Promote a unified managerial culture across the engineering leadership layer.
  • Act as a point of contact and trusted advisor for engineers on day to day operational activities and career development matters.
  • Support team leads in their leadership responsibilities (technical mentoring, feedback, engagement, growth tracking, early signals).

Required Skills

  • Strong background in technical management, engineering leadership and practices, software design and architecture within a tech organization.
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Software Engineer in a SaaS product organisation
  • Experience in scale-up context
  • Deep understanding of engineering career dynamics and talent management.
  • Solid grasp of organizational design, team structuring, and scaling best practices (Team Topologies)
  • Familiarity with modern people and talent growth practices (Management 3.0, Radical Candor, Motivation Frameworks)
  • Strong cross-functional and cross-hierarchical leadership.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with operational execution capabilities.
