Job Description

As a Senior Firmware Engineer at Intel, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of low-level C/C++ code for networking devices, specifically within the Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) IP team. This role involves collaborating with architecture, design, validation, and software teams to deliver full system solutions and engaging with customers. Key responsibilities include system-level design, interface definition, source code development, testing, and debugging. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership, adaptability, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.
Must have:
  • Design, implement, and test low-level C/C++ code for networking devices.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, validation, and software teams.
  • Perform system level design and modeling.
  • Define and partition interfaces between software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Develop, review, and maintain source code.
  • Conduct unit and system level test, verification, and bug fixing.
  • Interface with architecture, design, and system validation stakeholders.
  • Possess 5+ years of embedded firmware development expertise using C/C++.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in low level programming and RTOS.
  • Demonstrate 5+ years in debugging firmware and embedded hardware modules.
  • Show 4+ years in system architecture design and hardware design.
Good to have:
  • Experience in networking protocols (InfiniBand, TCP/IP, RDMA or RoCE)
  • Experience in high-speed ASIC or SOC design and debug (Verilog, fsdb)
  • Experience in post-silicon debug
  • Experience in SOC emulation
  • Experience with Automation using Python

Firmware is at the heart of what makes embedded systems work. As a Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of the low-level C/C++ code that powers the networking devices of tomorrow.

Join our RDMA IP team.

You are responsible for all aspects of firmware development for this cutting edge, complex IP. In this role you will work closely with the RDMA architecture team, design, validation, and software teams to provide the full system solution. You will also interact with our customers to understand and satisfy their requirements.

As a member of the firmware team your responsibilities will include:

  • System level design and modeling, managing the firmware design environment.
  • Interface definition and partition between software, firmware, and hardware.
  • Source code development, review, and maintenance- Unit and system level test and verification, triage, bug fixing at the IP-level.
  • Technical skills to interface with architecture, design, and system validation stakeholders
  • Communication skills to report progress to management forums and document specifications.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

What we need to see (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 6 years of industry work experience, or- Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 4 years of industry work experience, or- PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field plus 2 years of related work experience.
  • 5+ years of embedded firmware development expertise using C / C++.
  • 5+ years of experience in low level programming and operating systems (such as RTOS).
  • 5+ years of experience in debugging firmware and embedded hardware modules.
  • 4+ years of experience in system architecture design and hardware design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in networking protocols (InfiniBand, TCP/IP, RDMA or RoCE).
  • Experience in high-speed ASIC or SOC design and debug (Verilog, fsdb).
  • Experience in post-silicon debug- Experience in SOC emulation.
  • Experience with Automation using Python.
