Job Description

In this hands-on role as a Sr HW Validation Technician, you will combine your knowledge of hardware while completing and supporting various validation testing of the Lytx devices. As a key member of our Hardware Validation Team, your work will be essential in helping us ensure every product and system is evaluated, tested, and validated to meet internal and customer expectations. You will help create procedures and comprehensive test plans, collaborate with Hardware engineering and other teams, and identify and resolve technical issues across R&D Engineering, Device Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Supply Chain.
Must have:
  • Perform hardware validation testing duties.
  • Build and maintain R&D test fixtures.
  • Execute and document test protocols.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Repair and rework electronic components via soldering.
  • Fabricate and assemble cable harnesses and PCBs.
  • Manage lab inventory and organization.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Utilize Linux and Windows diagnostic programs.
  • Communicate technical issues and updates.

As a key member of our Hardware Validation Team, your work will be essential in helping us ensure every product and system is evaluated, tested, and validated to ensure it meets our internal and customer expectations. You will help us create procedures that drive the testing of our products and build comprehensive test plans to cover all aspects of system level test. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with Hardware engineering and other teams as you set the plan and ensure execution of all testing. Your technical knowledge will be key in evaluating our products, identifying issues as you work with multi-functional teams to ensure all issues are resolved. You will be working with R&D Engineering, Device Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Supply Chain, which will offer you the opportunity to use your effective communication skills across different levels in our dynamic, multidisciplinary team environment.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled HW Validation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in testing with high volume consumer electronics and using digital and wireless test equipment. Along with that, supporting intricate fabrication work when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform HW validation lab technician duties that include testing equipment, building prototype assemblies, building test equipment, and performing associated administrative duties such as lab cleanup and maintenance; Requires only moderate oversight in completing tasks
  • Contributes to lab organization, maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory including but not limited to tracking, shipping, and receiving materials
  • Builds R&D test fixtures per specifications provided, providing design assistance and feedback
  • Executes test protocols per instructions provided, with minimal supervision, and provides results according to prescribed documentation procedures, providing test protocol design assistance and feedback
  • Presents test report and design improvements to HW Validation and Engineering team members
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematic, diagrams, enabling comprehensive analysis and troubleshooting to the component level. Document test results and inspection data, comparing findings with specifications to ensure product conformity to company standards.
  • With engineering direction, troubleshoot simple circuits, mechanical assemblies, software functionality or accessories
  • No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions on new lines of work or special assignments
  • Repair or rework products/ components using electrical-mechanical assembly and soldering methods.
  • Help perform initial troubleshoot analysis for RMA devices
  • Fabricate and assemble cable harnesses for prototype and production units according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Assemble and modify PCBs, including surface-mount technology (SMT) and through-hole soldering. This work entails reading schematics and board layout diagrams to complete this task.
  • Perform additional task as required.

  • Fundamental understanding of computer architecture and components (CPU, power supply, memory, storage devices, etc.)
  • Ability to use custom Linux and Windows-based diagnostic programs
  • Ability to benchmark hardware performance
  • Understanding of hardware and software interactions; able to apply this understanding to resolve issues
  • Provide timely and detailed feedback to Engineering teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at a technical level
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at various levels in the organization
  • Hands-on building, testing, upgrading, and repairing of lab hardware and software (servers, peripherals, programs, and firmware)
  • Perform lab management responsibilities including but not limited to maintaining an efficient lab.
  • Work with engineers in the evaluation of new electronic components, as well as troubleshooting new servers
  • Conduct manual validation tests in a controlled environment
  • Execute soft tools (e.g. diagnostics, tests, firmware updates)
  • Communicate status updates and issues clearly and concisely from a technical perspective.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical certification or associate degree in electronics field required
  • 5 years of experience required
  • Proven experience in fabricating and assembling cable harnesses and PCBs.
  • Proficient in soldering, crimping, and using hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to document and report issues clearly.
  • Familiarity with ESD (electrostatic discharge) practices and procedures.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment as required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with automated soldering equipment.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and standards in electronics manufacturing.

Working Conditions:

  • Standard manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • May require standing for extended periods and handling small components.

Hourly rate is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for an incentive compensation plan. The expected hiring hourly rate for this position is:
