As the Sr. Manager of Business Operations, you will be the primary architect for Salesforce Engineering’s significant investments in People. This role involves leading strategic headcount management and software/program spend management within the Product Engineering COO organization to ensure optimal investment for future growth. It's a high-visibility position requiring strategic thinking, operational excellence, strong business partnering with leadership, and financial and data analytics expertise.

Must Have

  • Drive end-to-end lifecycle of Engineering headcount, including capacity planning and talent location strategy.
  • Derive insights to evolve resource planning and deployment for long-term business growth and optimization.
  • Implement and govern Headcount recruiting and backfill policies, ensuring global teams operate within fiscal targets.
  • Provide a 'Command Center' view of Engineering org, synthesizing complex labor and cloud data for C-suite.
  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, planning, corporate finance/FP&A, or workforce planning.
  • Expertise in Business Operations & Strategic Planning, managing complex organizational structures.
  • Finance Literacy, including P&L and budget management, and handling large data sets.
  • Polished skills in delivering written and verbal executive presentations.
  • A technical or business degree (Engineering, Economics, Finance).

Good to Have

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in dealing with dashboard tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc).

As the Sr. Manager of Business Operations, you will serve as the primary architect for Salesforce Engineering’s most significant investments: People. You will lead the strategic headcount management for engineering organization as well as software and program spend management in the Salesforce Product Engineering COO organization, to ensure we are investing right to grow for the future. This is a high-visibility role that requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, business partnering with leadership team as well as financial and data analytics savviness.

About You

  • You are financial savvy, with solid understanding of Cloud Economics and Public Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc), software spend and LLM costs.
  • You have a data-driven mindset and possess solid expertise in leveraging business analytics to drive high-stakes investment decisions.
  • You have a strategic mindset, comfortable deriving insights from data for strategic decisions, regarding location strategy, headcount investment, and more.
  • You are detail-oriented, who can bend effortlessly between the tactical process and the strategic conversations.
  • You are a fearless operator, who can design and own seamless process to execute the strategy to drive actions.
  • You build high-trust relationships with executives and leadership teams to provide trust-worthy advices.
  • You are a great team player who can navigate and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver results.

  • Unified Resource Governance: Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of Engineering headcount, from capacity planning and organizational design to talent location strategy, as well as growth and investment.
  • People Transformation: Derive insights to drive evolution in our resources planning and deployment to achieve long-term transformation to fuel the business growth as well as optimization.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement and govern Headcount recruiting, backfill policies and guardrails, ensuring global engineering teams operate within fiscal targets without sacrificing innovation speed.
  • Investment Intelligence: Provide the "Command Center" view of Engineering org, synthesizing complex labor and cloud data into clear narratives for the C-suite.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in business operations, strategy and planning, corporate finance/FP&A, or workforce planning at a global scale.
  • Expertise in Business Operations & Strategic Planning: Proven track record managing complex organizational structures, capacity modeling, and talent investment strategies.
  • Finance Literacy: Understanding of the finance language to manage P&L and budget. Capabilities to deal with large amount of data.
  • Executive Presentation: polished skill in delivering written and verbal executive presentation in document, presentation and dashboard format.
  • Education: A technical or business degree (Engineering, Economics, Finance). MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Tooling: experience in dealing with dashboard (Tableau, PowerBI, etc) as a plus.

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $180,300 - $261,500 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $196,800 - $285,300 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
