Job Description

The Senior Network Operations Engineer provides first-line support and troubleshooting for large-scale production issues and implements data center builds. Working with Network Engineering and Systems Operations, they ensure maximum uptime and speedy issue resolution. Responsibilities include providing first-line support for all network issues, collaborating on data center builds, creating accurate documentation, performing hardware/software upgrades, and ensuring network configurations are up to date. The role requires expertise in various networking protocols, troubleshooting methodologies, and Cisco and Arista products. This position necessitates a deep understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, PIM), firewall technologies, and experience in both Cisco Campus and VXLAN environments. Knowledge of network security practices and Linux is essential.

Job Summary:

Senior Network Operations Engineer provides first line support and troubleshooting for large scale production issues as well as implementing Data Center builds. Working closely with both the Network Engineering team and Systems Operations. Network Operations ensures maximum uptime of services and speedy resolution of all issues.

Job Summary:

Network Operations Engineers are expected to be well versed in numerous networking protocols, technologies and troubleshooting methodology. Utilizing this unique skill set, NetOps provide first line support to all departments with regards to traffic flow and network issues / inquiries. NetOps is also responsible for populating new DC builds in terms of configurations, documentation, monitoring, and support the needs of other teams with regards to their specific technologies.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Summarize job responsibilities, core deliverables and major duties. What is required for the position to exist?  
  • Provide first line support for all network issues
  • Work with Network Engineering to implement Data Center Builds
  • Produce accurate and easily parsable documentation for any new builds or procedures
  • Performing routine hardware and software upgrades and configurations

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Current CCNA or CCNP preferred 
  • Experience with routing and switching technologies in datacenter networks
  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Thorough understanding and practical experience of routing protocols and switching technologies including PIM Multicast
  • Substantial experience administering Cisco product lines (IOS, IOS-XE, IOS-XR and NXOS) and Arista EOS
  • Strong knowledge of firewall technologies
  • Working knowledge of both Cisco Campus and VXLAN environments
  • Knowledge of network and information security practices with specific regard to cisco ASA operation
  • Working knowledge of Layer 3 routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, etc.
  • Experience with Linux
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings. This includes occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays


The hiring range for this position in Charlotte, NC is $97,600.00 to $130,900.00 per year, in The Woodlands, TX is $97,600.00 to $130,900.00 per year, in Las Vegas is $97,600.00 to $130,900.00 per year, and in Bristol, CT is $104,600.00 to $140,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
