Senior QA Tester

Saltwater Games (SWG) is a dynamic and innovative game development studio that thrives on creating immersive gaming experiences. We are currently seeking a proactive Senior QA Tester to own testing on an exciting upcoming VR title. As a Senior QA Tester, you will work closely with the Project Leads and Senior Producer to coordinate testing on an exciting new VR title launching on multiple platforms.You will be creating and maintaining test plans and reports for yourself and external teams to complete. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of game development and quality assurance practices. 

Responsibilities

1. Work closely within a multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate all testing for an exciting new VR game releasing on multiplatforms
2. Ensure the game is tested thoroughly by planning and carrying out different types of tests including smoke, functional and exploratory
3. Identify, investigate, and report bugs for the title
4. Develop and maintain Test Plans and Test Cases for the project duration
5. Playing the game and giving quality feedback and suggestions
6. Coordinate and conduct internal playtests, then provide qualitative feedback using data/analytics
7. Have the freedom and autonomy to propose and implement new processes and improvements to how we work
8. Learn development practices/workflows and use this knowledge to help find the root cause of issues
9. Assist with training and onboarding external testers

• Experience testing games in a Senior QA Tester role, or you are a QA Tester looking to take that next step
• Knowledge of QA methodologies
• Analytical with problem identification, and solving skills
• Experience working on Projects at all stages of the development cycle
• Excellent communicator with a high standard of written, oral, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with a variety of test tools including bug databases
• Understanding of good game design and the ability to provide qualitative feedback at all stages in development
• A passion for games

Ideal Additions

• Experience training and developing new members of staff
• Knowledge of game engines like Unreal and Unity
• Experience and passion with VR gaming 
• Experience leading/coordinating tests and delegating work
• Experience working on a number of platforms 
• Interest in game analytics
• Knowledge of test automation
