Job Description

This engineer will join the Research and Development team creating state-of-the-art software for semiconductor analysis. They will be responsible for developing software products and supporting systems. The Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.
Must have:
  • Build a solid understanding of the code and the team’s software development processes.
  • Participate in planning, architecture, and research.
  • Perform complex development activities requiring extensive analysis in user experience and software design.
  • Perform complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products.
  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions.
  • Employ best practices and help maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.
  • Research and understand marketing requirements for a product, including target environment and performance criteria.
  • Work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and may take on planning and mentoring responsibilities.
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Three years’ experience in C++ with broad and deep understanding of the language.
  • Experience in developing UI applications using the Qt framework.
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
  • Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
  • Ability to learn quickly, understand complex systems, and work closely with others.
Good to have:
  • Experience in Python programming language.
  • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment.
  • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in this domain.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Summary / Role Purpose

In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build a solid understanding of the code and the team’s software development processes.
  • Participate in planning, architecture, and research.
  • Perform complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience and software design.
  • Perform complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions.
  • Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.
  • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 5 years’ experience or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • Three years’ experience in C++ with broad and deep understanding of the language.
  • Experience in developing UI applications using the Qt framework.
  • Working knowledge of the Linux operating system.
  • Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
  • Ability to learn quickly, understand complex systems and to work closely with others.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated skills in the following areas are a plus:

  • Experience in Python programming language.
