Job Description

The R&D Engineer II at ANSYS will contribute to the development of software products and supporting systems. They will collaborate with a team to understand customer requirements and achieve development objectives. The role involves performing moderately complex development activities, including design, implementation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of software modules. The engineer will also perform bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products. They will research problems found by QA or product support and develop solutions. Additionally, the engineer is expected to understand marketing requirements for a product, considering target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues. This position operates under the general supervision of a development manager.
Must have:
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and coding in C++, Python, and Java
  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming and software design paradigms
  • Experience with debugging and source code control software like GIT
  • Experience with Software Design Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with large-scale software development environment

SUMMARY
ANSYS, Inc. seeks R&D Engineer II to work in Canonsburg, PA

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The R&D Engineer II will contribute to the development of software products and supporting systems. 
  • Collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives. 
  • Perform moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems. 
  • Perform moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. 
  • Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Understand the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. 
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study. 
  • Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a related position. 
  • Work experience or academic coursework must have included: 
    • Experience with standard data structures, algorithms, coding skills using high level language including C++, Python and Java; 
    • Experience with Object Oriented Programming, software design paradigms, debugging, and source code control software including GIT; 
    • Experience with Software Design Life Cycle (SDLC); and 
    • Experience with large-scale software development environment.
    • Additional work location information:  May permit telecommuting within commuting distance to an Ansys office. Telecommute work from home position in an office at least 1 day a week.
