Position Summary
The Equity Index Senior Research Analyst will work in the FTSE Russell Equity Index Research & Design team. The Index Research & Design team are responsible for the development, design and research of equity indices and index related analytics. The team work closely with both internal departments and FTSE Russell’s partners and key clients, including major asset owners, fund managers and investment banks in the creation of new index products. This involves the use of fundamental and quantitative techniques to craft and provide index solutions and analysis across all asset classes. Role Responsibilities
Develop and refine investment metrics for indexes, ensuring accuracy in calculations and relevance to current market conditions.
Implement Python applications using object-oriented programming principles for efficient and scalable solutions.
Provide analytical services to support index decision-making processes.
Development of investment analytics and research tools.
Conduct in-depth research on the Asia Pacific market, with a special focus on style factors, thematic elements, and ESG/sustainability-related factors. Analyse and quantify the potential impact on investment portfolios.
Maintain strong relationships and effective communication with the development, product, sales and marketing functions.
Work closely with the team to integrate quant models and algorithms into production-grade software.
Respond to internal research enquiries related to index construction and development.
Assume responsibility for index rebalance mechanisms.
Build regular research reports highlighting the application of research tools and the characteristics of specific indexes.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Good knowledge of quantitative investment analytics, including portfolio simulation, optimization algorithms, and performance attribution.
Proven analytical investment experience – with 5+ years on either the buy or sell side.
Proficiency in analytical tools and programming languages such as Python, SQL, Matlab, with experience applying these in an analytical environment.
Experience in applying ESG/sustainability data into the investment process.
Exposure to data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy) and visualisation tools (Matplotlib, plotly) is preferred but not mandatory
