Job Description

This role involves managing technical requirements for a go-to-market effort with a major partner, supporting Wind River's portfolio including eLxr Pro Linux, Studio Operator, and other edge products. The Senior Technical Architect will be leveraging the OpenStack Foundation’s StarlingX project to deliver Kubernetes-based solutions for managing edge cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities include managing technical needs of the assigned partner, serving as the single technical point of contact, architecting and delivering Proofs of Concept and presentations, and removing technical barriers for Wind River solutions. Experience in software engineering with a strong focus on networking and distributed systems is required.
Must have:
  • Experience in open-source projects such as StarlingX and Kubernetes
  • Working knowledge of network stacks, switching, routing, etc.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT architectures and modern infrastructure platforms
  • Expertise in virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of modern enterprise IT infrastructure, private/hybrid cloud platforms
  • Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation or similar products
  • Linux background covering deployment, image build, application, and kernel development

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
This role requires managing the technical requirements of a go-to-market effort with a major partner. Your efforts will enable our partner to better sell solutions that include Wind River products. You will position and provide support for Wind River’s portfolio including eLxr Pro Linux, Studio Operator and other Wind River Edge products as needed.   You will also leverage the OpenStack Foundation’s StarlingX project to deliver geographically distributed, high-performance, production-grade Kubernetes-based solutions for managing edge cloud infrastructure. The solutions you will support address complex challenges of deploying physically distributed clouds at scale and managing highly available and secure platforms for modern enterprise applications.
You must have experience in software engineering with a strong focus on networking and distributed systems. You must be capable of understanding the partners’ and end customers’ problems and whiteboarding solutions using our product offerings and services. You should also know and have lived through commercial software project development cycles and have a good understanding of project management. Some amount of travel will be required.
 
Interface & Collaboration
Report directly to the Senior Director of Sales and Field Applications Engineers. You will be an integral part of sales team and the broader community of solution architects and specialized Account Managers/Directors and strive to become the trusted technical advisor to our partner and their customers by understanding their business needs and addressing those needs through Wind River’s products, services, and solutions. You will collaborate with the partner account teams, engineering, product management, professional services, and other members of the solutions engineering team.
 
Responsibilities
  • Manage all technical needs of the assigned partner utilizing all available resources.
  • Serve as a single technical point of contact and become the partner’s trusted advisor and the Wind River solutions expert.
  • Listen to partner’s needs, then Architect, Develop, and deliver Proofs of Concept, Demos, and Presentations.
  • Understand the end customer use cases and help develop part of the POC or Demo.
  • Exhibit leadership skills during customer requirements analysis and creating technical solutions as well as identifying potential business opportunities.
  • Participation in open source projects will be based on business needs.
  • Provide consistent market feedback to Wind River.
  • Remove technical barriers for Wind River solutions.
  • Increase Wind River's market share globally.
 
ABOUT YOU
 Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success
  • Be hands-on in the development of customer proof of concepts (PoCs), extending product features, and testing code.
  • Experience in open-source projects such as StarlingX, Kubernetes is a must.
  • Knowledge of modern enterprise IT infrastructure, private/hybrid cloud platforms, Telco Core/RAN, OSS/BSS and application performance management tools is a strong plus.
  • Experience explaining technical concepts to large audience, comfort, and confidence in front of customers.
  • Able to work independently in partner and end customer locations/labs.
 
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have 12+ years of software development or solutions architecting experience in the following areas:
  • Working/functional knowledge of network stacks, switching, routing, etc.
  • Understanding of enterprise IT architectures and modern infrastructure platforms (data center, edge, and cloud) and knowledge of telecom networks.
  • Knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation or similar products.
  • Experience in system-level solution design, including enterprise workload orchestration.
  • Expertise in virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, orchestration, OpenStack, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Exposure to software-defined infrastructure, virtualization, and distributed system management.
  • Linux background covering deployment, image build, application, and kernel development.
  • Adept at various programming languages: C++/C, scripting languages like Python, Perl, etc.
  • Must have English language skills enabling business discussion/dialogue.
  • Travel at short notice availability required up to 25%.
