Job Description

The Senior Staff Application Engineer will join Marvell's ODSP team within the Connectivity Business Group, developing advanced products for datacenter, enterprise, optics, and AI applications. This role involves supporting internal and external teams in system-level debugging, analyzing and characterizing silicon-level IPs like High-Speed SerDes, and evaluating new PHY features. Responsibilities also include developing driver firmware, resolving application issues, providing direct technical support to top-tier customers, and developing automated validation test plans and scripts.
Good To Have:
  • Master’s degree on Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Bench analysis using equipment like BERT or AWG.
  • Performing 5G, 10G, 25G NRZ and 53G PAM-4 Transmitter Compliance test measurements using IEEE Compliant HCB test fixture.
  • Performing electrical compliance testing for PCIE Gen4/5 using PCI-SIG Compliance boards.
Must Have:
  • Support internal or external teams on system-level debugging.
  • Analyze, bring up, debug, and characterize silicon-level Marvell’s internal IPs such as High-Speed SerDes.
  • Evaluate and debug new features in PHY, develop driver firmware, collect performance data, and resolve application and production issues.
  • Provide direct technical support to top-tier customers, review designs, and help tune performance.
  • Develop and execute bench-level validation test plans and develop scripts in Python, VBA, and MATLAB.
  • Generate appropriate test reports and write application notes.
  • Act as a primary technical interface between the company and customers.
  • Qualify design activity at the customer engineering level and participate in new product definition.
  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science or related technical field.
  • Five years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Strong fundamentals of communication, transmission lines, EM, microwave theories.
  • Test Script generation in Python, VBA, MATLAB or other language.
  • Debugging using equipment like Oscilloscope, TDR, VNA, Logic Analyzer.
  • Experience and knowledge on high-speed SerDes Printed Circuit Board design and system application.
  • Creating and performing validation test cases and generating reports.
  • Attitude to interact with remote teams.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written.

The ODSP team within Marvell’s Connectivity Business Group develops advanced products supporting industry leading solutions for the growing datacenter, enterprise, optics, and AI application. As a member of the ODSP validation team, you will have the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams from analog, software, firmware developers and PCB designers to develop hardware platforms, and write device drivers and scripts to full validate leading edge products. You will be involved in complex lab testing, hardware brings up activities and all facets of the prototype process including PCB fab and assembly.

What You Can Expect

  • Support internal or external teams on system-level debugging.
  • Analyze Bring up, debug, and characterize silicon-level Marvell’s internal IPs such as High-Speed SerDes, for various Marvell products.
  • Evaluate and debug new features in PHY, develop driver firmware, collect performance data, and resolve application and production issues, including Ethernet and PCIe products.
  • Provide direct technical support to top-tier customers and work with them to review designs, discuss questions, and help tune performance to meet system requirements.
  • Develop and execute bench-level validation test plans and develop scripts in Python, VBA, and MATLAB to automate testing.
  • Generate an appropriate test report and write application notes.
  • Provide technical support to customers for resolving all technical issues and for furnishing collateral documentation related to technical matters.
  • Act as a primary technical interface between the company and customers.
  • Qualify design activity at the customer engineering level and participate in the definition of new products and the identification of niche areas that present new opportunities for Marvell.
  • Work Model: Full-time, on-site.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science or related technical field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Master’s degree on Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering is preferable.
  • Strong fundamentals of communication, transmission lines, EM, microwave theories.
  • Test Script generation in Python, VBA, MATLAB or other language.
  • Debugging using equipment like Oscilloscope (Keysight, Tektronix, Teledynelecroy), TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer, Tektronix), VNA (Vector Network Analyzer, Agilent), Logic Analyzer (Tektronix, Agilent).
  • Bench analysis using equipment like BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester, Keysight, Anritsu) or AWG (Arbitrary Waveform Generator, Tektronix) in a plus.
  • Performing 5G, 10G, 25G NRZ and 53G PAM-4 Transmitter Compliance test measurements using IEEE Compliant HCB (Host Compliance Board) test fixture is a plus.
  • Performing electrical compliance testing for PCIE Gen4/5 using PCI-SIG Compliance boards is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge on high-speed SerDes Printed Circuit Board design and system application.
  • Creating and performing validation test cases and generating reports including the gathered data and target results.
  • Attitude to interact with remote teams.
  • Willing to travel
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written.
