Senior System Test & Automation Engineer

Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions company, is seeking a Senior System Test & Automation Engineer to join their R&D team in West Los Angeles, CA. This onsite role involves designing and testing wireless communication solutions, establishing production tests, and implementing automated test setups. The engineer will collaborate with R&D teams, define new products, troubleshoot manufacturing failures, and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.

Must Have

• Design and test complete solutions using Silvus hardware and software products.
• Design and implement logging and log analysis tools.
• Help define new products and features.
• Perform product evaluations and field tests.
• Work closely with software development to augment production test systems.
• Perform manufacturing failure troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience (or 3 years with advanced degree).
• Experience in embedded firmware development and testing, scripting, embedded Linux, C/C++, and python.
• Experience in wireless/networking or electronics manufacturing.
• Proven experience with lab instruments (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Successful clearance of a background check.

Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking a full-time Senior System Test & Automation Engineer who will report to the R&D Director, Implementation on the Research and Development team. The successful individual in this role will collaborate with R&D teams to understand performance requirements, establish production tests and performance thresholds, and design and implement efficient and streamlined automated test setup and programs for wireless communication systems in a manufacturing environment.

The Senior System Test & Automation Engineer position will be based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA and is 100% onsite, Monday through Friday.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and test complete solutions using Silvus hardware and software products that solve unique technical problems and provide full coverage of wireless communication system feature sets.
• Design and implement logging and log analysis tools to capture performance of both the systems under test and the test infrastructure itself.
• Help define new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field tests and trials for new product features and accessories.
• Work closely with the software development team to augment production test systems to support rollout of new features and product configurations.
• Perform manufacturing failure troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production failures escalated to engineering.
• Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, specifically in embedded firmware development and testing, scripting, embedded Linux, C/C++, and python; OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience including embedded firmware development and testing, scripting, embedded Linux, C/C++, and python with an advanced degree.
• Demonstrated experience in wireless/networking or an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience with lab instruments such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and logic analyzers.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check.

COMPENSATION

$130,000 - $180,000 / annually

The pay range is NOT a guarantee, is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
