Senior Tech Lead experienced in server-side development

The company is seeking a Senior Tech Lead for server-side development to join its web team in Colombo. This role involves collaborating with product and development teams to create user-friendly teacher interfaces, enhance public websites, and contribute to a joyful learning experience for students worldwide. The ideal candidate will be flexible and inventive in delivering outcomes within a scale-up environment.

Must Have

• Building web-based educational software using Python and Django.
• Developing APIs and web components collaboratively.
• Leading feature development for the platform.
• Performing architectural reviews and supporting technical decisions.
• Conducting code reviews and providing implementation feedback.
• Introducing and improving development processes and best practices.
• Proficiency in server-side languages like Java, Python, or Golang.
• Experience with scalable web application and API development.
• Applying design and architectural patterns to solve problems.
• Championing new initiatives internally and externally.
• Possessing a CS degree with strong abilities.
• Experience managing a team.
• Being a team player with a 'can-do' attitude.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Capable of owning tasks and raising team standards.
• Self-learner with a passion for quality.

Good to Have

• Previous experience as a technical lead
• Experience working with a Cloud platform (AWS preferred)
• CI/CD tools (Jenkins preferred)
• Experienced with containerized applications such as Kubernetes, Docker
• Client-side experience (New Angular or React, HTML, CSS, JS)

THE ROLE

Matific is seeking a great Senior Tech Lead experienced in server-side development to join the Matific web team in our Colombo office, as part of our cutting-edge global web group. This will involve working closely with our product and development teams to create an easy-to-use teacher interface, bring joy and happiness to students worldwide and build and enhance our public websites.

Given the scale-up nature of the company, you will need to be flexible and inventive in the delivery of your outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Building web-based educational software, for teachers and students using Python and Django
• Develop APIs and web components in collaboration with the other teams
• Lead feature development
• Perform architectural reviews and support the leadership team in making significant technical decisions about the platform
• Perform code reviews, evaluate implementations, and provide feedback
• Introduce and improve the development process and best practices

Requirements

• 8+ Years of experience as a server-side/backend developer.
• Proficiency in at least one server-side/backend language like Java, Python or Golang
• Experience working in scalable web application and API development
• Experience applying design patterns and architectural patterns to solve real-world problems
• Experience championing new initiatives both internally and externally
• CS degree with top grades and/or top abilities
• Experience managing a team
• Team player with a 'can-do' attitude
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English

• Self-learner and passion for quality
