Computer Scientist 2

Adobe is seeking a Computer Scientist 2 to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of critical backend components for Adobe Connect. This role involves driving high-quality technical decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will mentor engineers, define technical roadmaps, and ensure production readiness. Collaboration with product, QE, and SRE teams is essential to deliver high-quality features and establish engineering best practices. The role also includes evaluating new technologies and contributing across the entire SDLC in a dynamic, distributed environment.

Must Have

• 8+ years experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems.
• B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science with strong academic background or equivalent.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong hands-on experience with backend technologies like Java, Scala, Go, or Python.
• Solid understanding of data systems: MySQL/Postgres, Redis, Cassandra, MongoDB, Kafka, event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong programming, debugging, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to make architectural decisions and define long-term technical direction.
• Experience planning and reducing technical debt, maintaining system scalability and maintainability.
• Experience with production systems, performance tuning, observability, and customer escalation handling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead innovation, drive engineering improvements, and adopt new technologies.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical execution.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

• Work effectively in a collaborative, distributed, and dynamic environment.
• Apply sound design principles to build maintainable, high-quality, and scalable systems.

• Exposure to AI/ML system integration or model serving is a plus.
