Job Description

As a Senior Technical Artist at Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, you will collaborate with Art and Programming teams to address technical challenges, improve pipelines, and optimize art production. You will ensure seamless art integration into game engines and maintain technical stability while adhering to the art direction. This role involves providing daily support, driving asset integration, creating benchmark assets, acting as a point of contact for art-related issues, developing tools and scripts, and creating comprehensive documentation.
Must have:
  • Thorough understanding of Unity Engine.
  • High level proficiency in game development areas.
  • High level proficiency in 2D and 3D software.
  • Well-versed in node-based graphs.
  • Extensive scripting experience (Python, C#, MaxScript).
  • Experience with Project Management tools (JIRA).
  • Experience with Source Control tools (Git, Perforce).
  • Experience in working a range of devices from mobile to console.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear documentation.
  • Attention to detail from both technical and artistic perspectives.
Good to have:
  • HLSL/GLSL experience is a plus.
  • Strong 2D/Concept Art skills are a plus.
  • Understanding and experience with different art styles is a plus.

Job Description

As our new Senior Technical Artist at Ubisoft Abu Dhabi, you will work closely with the Art and Programming teams to address technical challenges, improve pipelines, create tools, optimize art production and maintain technical stability without compromising on visual fidelity.

 

You will ensure seamless art integration into game engines with clearly documented and communicated workflows. Your strong artistic skills will ensure that our games will keep in line not just with the technical requirements, but with the art direction as well.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide daily support to the Art and Tech teams
  • Drive the implementation and integration of in-game assets
  • Create Benchmark assets and process following and explaining the constraints on the project keeping the visual integrity in line with the artistic direction
  • Point of contact on the art side when facing process or performance issues in-game
  • Develop tools and scripts for Unity, Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, Substance Designer, and other 3D/2D software, as well as in-house tools
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for technical art features and tools to support team-wide understanding and usage

Qualifications

What you bring:

  • Thorough understanding of Unity Engine
  • High level proficiency in one or more areas of game development (Modeling & Texturing, VFX, Rendering, Post Processing, Rigging and Animation, Shaders)
  • High level proficiency in 2D and 3D software (3ds Max, Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, ZBrush, Photoshop etc.)
  • Well-versed in node-based graphs (Shader Graph, VFX Graph, Substance Designer)
  • Extensive scripting experience (Python, C#, MaxScript )
  • Experience with Project Management tools (JIRA)
  • Experience with Source Control tools (Git, Perforce)
  • Experience in working a range of devices from mobile to console
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write clear documentation 
  • Attention to detail from both technical and artistic perspectives
  • Strong problem-solving and intuitive development skills
  • Fast and willing learner
  • HLSL/GLSL experience is a plus
  • Strong 2D/Concept Art skills are a plus
  • Understanding and experience with different art styles (Stylized, Semi-Realistic, Pixel Art) is a plus

Experience:

  • 5+ years as a Technical Artist or other related experience
  • Shipped 3 or more Mobile, PC or Console games using Unity
