Job Summary

Wind River is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join their Information Development department in Chennai, India. This role involves producing world-class documentation for the Wind River Studio Developer product, a modern DevOps platform for mission-critical embedded systems. The writer will work with DITA XML, track stories in Jira, update existing content, and collaborate with engineers globally to create user-centric, task-oriented content for product administration, deployment, and management.

Must Have

  • Work in DITA XML to write user-centric, task-oriented content.
  • Work with Jira to track stories and bugs.
  • Update and rewrite existing content to current standards.
  • Interview subject-matter experts and collaborate with engineers.
  • Comfortable working independently and gaining hands-on experience with the product.
  • Comfortable with the embedded development lifecycle and tools for managing system image builds.
  • 3-8 years of experience working as a technical writer.
  • Experience in conceptual and procedural writing.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation with a DITA based structured authoring tool such as Ixiasoft.
  • Experience working with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience writing in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with command-line tools.

Good to Have

  • Experience with Platform security features like RBAC.
  • Knowledge of Cloud storage best practices.
  • Experience with Embedded development.
  • Use of virtualization tools such as Docker and QEMU.
  • Experience with Linux and Android operating systems.
  • Experience with DevSecOps development methodology.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation using reStructured text/Sphinx.
  • Experience working with a repository management system such as GitLab or Bitbucket.

Wind River Studio Developer is a modern DevOps platform designed to accelerate the development, testing, and deployment of mission-critical embedded systems. It provides a unified environment for developers, testers, and operators to collaborate efficiently, leveraging cloud-based tools like Studio Pipelines, Virtual Lab, and Test Automation. With support for continuous integration, over-the-air updates, and real-time feedback loops, Studio Developer streamlines workflows and enhances productivity across the entire software lifecycle

Wind River is looking for an Senior Technical Writer to integrate with a team of developers to produce world class documentation for the Wind River Studio Developer product.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in DITA XML to write user-centric, task-oriented content for the administration, deployment, and management of the Studio Developer product.
  • Work with Jira to track stories and bugs assigned to you.
  • Update and rewrite existing content to bring it in line with current product functionality, DITA content structure and standards.
  • Interview subject-matter experts, participate in review meetings, and collaborate with engineers in various geographic locations to create and update content.
  • You must be comfortable working independently and asking questions to gain hands-on experience with the product.
  • You must be comfortable with the embedded development lifecycle and tools for managing system image builds.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-8 years of experience working as a technical writer.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in the English language.
  • Experience in conceptual and procedural writing.
  • Good technical and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently with colleagues across geographic locations and time zones.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation with a DITA based structured authoring tool such as Ixiasoft.
  • Experience working with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience writing in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with command-line tools.
