As CAE’s Simulator Technician, you will join our experienced Team in Sesto Calende, Italy, working on advanced level simulators for pilot training. This varied role offers exposure to modern simulators, systems, and equipment, enhancing your technical knowledge. You will work a 24/7 shift pattern (4 Days On & 4 Days Off, alternating Days and Nights) and contribute to preparing simulation training equipment, loading scenarios, and performing maintenance tasks. Must have:
  • Prepare simulation training equipment for daily operation.
  • Load exercise scenarios and complete journey logs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on simulators.
  • Diagnose and correct simulator system problems.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight operations.
  • Provide customer service support.
  • Perform logistics duties including parts management.
Good to have:
  • College Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Aeronautics, or Mechanics
  • Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or hardware fields

About This Role

As CAE’s Simulator Technician, you will join our experience Team based in Sesto Calende, in Lombardy - Italy, working on advanced level simulators that are preparing the new generation of pilots, but also keep updated the more expert one. Due to the unrivalled range of simulators at our training center, your role will be incredibly varied, giving you the opportunity to work on a wide range of the most modern simulators, systems, and equipment to enhance your technical knowledge and learn your future career from zero.

It is a 24/7 operations the shift pattern will be 4 Days On & 4 Days Off, alternating Days and Nights Shifts, so you will be working in the following schedule:

4 Days Shift + 4 Days Off + 4 Nights Shift + 4 Days Off and then all over again on 365 years round calendar.

Day Shift is from 07:00 to 19:00 = 11 hours of paid work + 1 hour for unpaid lunch break

Night Shift is from 19:00 to 07:00 = 11 hours of paid work + 1 hour for unpaid dinner break

Lunch or Dinner on duty will be offered from the Company at the Internal Canteen.

In this role, the Simulator Technician will together our Expert Technician:

  • Prepare the Simulation Training Equipment for daily operation for each training device, based on the published monthly schedules.
  • Loads appropriate exercise scenarios and other tasks required to prepare specific training sessions, while also completing Journey Logs at the start and finish of scheduled training sessions.
  • Receive training and perform assignments in office, on site, field, and laboratory.
  • Some projects may be of experimental or design nature.
  • Solve a variety of complex simulator and/or aircraft systems problems.

Your knowledge will start from some experienced in mechanical, Idrolic or Hardware so that you will soon be able to:

  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Completing all designated training activities.
  • Performing pre-flight and post flight operations on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Help in running automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG).
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required

Our ideal candidate has:

  • College Diploma preferably in any of the following:

Electronics / Mechatronics / Aeronautics / Mechanics

  • Experience in at least one of the above areas
  • Availability in working on Flexible Shifts and adapting to changing work schedules.
  • Ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of how to prepare operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Knowledge in analogue and digital theory.
  • Computer literate (PC and/or Computer Mainframe / Architecture).
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite.
  • Fluency in English and / or Italian
