About You

Your Day
As a Software Engineer in Yahoo’s Observability team, you will specialize in building high performance, high throughput, distributed, and scalable systems that would be capable of handling millions of data points/second in real-time; storage systems handling massive write rates and queries that scan through millions of rows. You will work hand-in-hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects to build amazing experiences that will delight our users.
This role will involve some staggered hours, (later start times) to ensure successful collaboration with US colleagues in the early stages of the role.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of programming experience using JAVA, Golang, Python or similar languages
Strong systems programming development, testing, and debugging skills
3+ years of experience in software design and development with a focus on large scale distributed systems handling large amounts of data
Strong Unix/Linux experience
Experience using cloud based environments, i.e. AWS, GCP
Experience with OSS and / or commercial observability tools like Grafana, NewRelic, DataDog, Splunk, Chronosphere, AWS or GCP native telemetry tools
OR
Experience with Big Data tools like ElasticSearch, OpenTSDB
Strong skill set integrating diverse API and Web Services
B.S. in Computer Science good academic background or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of network and security practices in cloud and on-prem deployments
Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world
Knowledge and operational experience running large-scale distributed systems
