This role is for a Graduate Software Developer (Java/Python) in Sydney, supporting Nasdaq Market Surveillance's AI/Machine Learning initiatives. You will work on critical systems used by major financial institutions, gaining hands-on experience building production-grade AI tools. Responsibilities include developing AI/ML technology, building and optimizing data pipelines, troubleshooting issues, implementing data validation, and developing/modifying software components. The role offers an autonomous, fast-paced environment with global impact.
Must have:
  • Support the development of AI and Machine Learning technology.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in datasets, pipelines, and automated processes.
  • Implement data validation and monitoring.
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and implement operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
  • Develop program logic for new applications or modify existing ones.
  • Modify existing internal software products.

We are looking for a Graduate Software Developer (Java/Python) with Software Engineering and/or Data Engineering experience. The role is based in Sydney with the Nasdaq Market Surveillance team supporting Nasdaq’s AI/Machine Learning initiatives. Nasdaq Market Surveillance is the global leader in surveillance technology, and is used to detect and deter financial crime worldwide. You will support AI projects that power critical systems used by major financial institutions, and gain hands-on experience building the foundations for production grade AI tools.

What You Will Do

  • Support the development of AI and Machine Learning technology for the global leader in market surveillance.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines that feed AI and Machine Learning systems, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in datasets, pipelines, and automated processes.
  • Implement data validation and monitoring to improve data accuracy and pipeline stability.
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
  • Develops program logic for new applications or analyses and modifies logic in existing applications.
  • Modifies existing internal software products to add to new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance or enhance product usability.
  • May be developing as a generalist and become more involved in various aspects of a project including firmware, hardware, architecture, database warehouse and mining, database design and analysis, software development and testing.

What We Expect

  • Education Required: Degree qualified in a discipline related to Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • Recent graduates, or individuals with 1-2 years of experience in Software Engineering, or Data Engineering welcome to apply.
  • A commitment to high quality work, with the patience and persistence to see difficult tasks through to completion.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work methodically through complex challenges and taking ownership of tasks given.
  • Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc..) is nice to have.
  • Special Qualifications: Maintains certifications in programming and/or scripting languages.
