The camera software team at Qualcomm is seeking a senior software engineer to develop software for mobile devices. The role involves working on camera drivers, HAL, and post-processing features for Snapdragon chipsets, ensuring optimal performance and image quality. Responsibilities include designing and developing new features, supporting new hardware, debugging issues, optimizing software, and collaborating with partners. The successful candidate will be exposed to various technologies including 3A, image signal processors, and camera sensors. This role requires the candidate to apply their camera knowledge to assist in the design, development, debug, implementation, and verification of camera software, algorithms, and features. Additionally, the role requires the candidate to ensure that image quality, software conformance tests, and performance and power metrics are met to deliver camera software to customers.

General Summary:

The camera software team is looking for talented senior software engineers experienced in development of software for mobile and devices. The camera software team is responsible for delivering the camera drivers, HAL and post processing features for Snapdragon chipsets, providing best in class performance, power and image quality. This role will involve working at all layers of the camera software stack, from Android Camera HAL and/or Windows AVS/KMD/MFT Camera implementation to low level hardware control. Responsibilities will include the design and development of new features, support for new hardware, debugging of issues within the software, optimizing software for performance and power, development of unit tests and working with our partners and OEMs. The successful candidate will be exposed to 3A (auto exposure, auto focus and auto white balance), image signal processors, camera sensors, as well as integration with other technologies including motion sensors, video encoders, DSPs, GPU and display.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.

•    2+ years of relevant camera software experience.

•    1+ year programming (e.g., C, C++, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems knowledge.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Applies knowledge of Camera to assist in the design, development, debug, implementation, and verification of camera software (e.g., Camera Image Signal Processor, 3A, Image Quality, Tuning Tools, etc.), algorithms, and features.

•    Assists in the design or architect of IQ modules, algorithms, and feature decompositions for both hardware and software.

•    Assists in ensuring that image quality, software conformance tests, and performance and power metrics are met to deliver camera software to customers.

•    Collaborates with team members to design, develop, and implement camera software. 

Writes technical documentation and feature descriptions for Camera SW projects.

Level of Responsibility:  
•    Works under supervision.

•    Decision-making affects direct area of work and/or work group.
•    Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information. 
•    Tasks consist of a limited number of steps and can be referenced using directions or manuals.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$98,900.00 - $148,300.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.  We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).  In addition, our highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play.
