Job Description

As a Software Engineer on the Google Pay team, you'll design, develop, and launch innovative payment features for both frontend and backend systems. You'll manage medium-complexity projects from start to finish, collaborating with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include designing efficient large-scale distributed backend systems, working with Java or C++, and leveraging expertise in data structures and algorithms. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You'll contribute to making payments simpler, seamless, and secure for Google Pay users worldwide.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development (Java, C++)
2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
Design, develop, and launch payment features
Own medium-complexity projects end-to-end

Good to have:

Experience in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design
Experience designing and implementing efficient large-scale distributed backend systems
Experience in the payments industry

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in computer science, data structures, algorithms, and software design
Experience designing and implementing efficient large-scale distributed backend systems through the full project lifecycle
Experience in the payments industry

In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and launch innovative payment features for Google Pay's frontend and backend systems.
Own medium-complexity projects end-to-end, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams across different locations.
