McDonald's is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to own the development of their Kiosk technology. This role involves collaborating, designing, and bringing innovative products to market, and building technologies in a large distributed computing environment. You will play a pivotal role in product feature development from beginning to end, working in a software development team for Restaurant software applications. Responsibilities include contributing to all aspects of the agile development life cycle, such as design, development, documentation, testing, and operations, while actively participating in the Scrum process. The goal is to design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions for web applications, utilizing software engineering best practices to ensure high quality and transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.
Must have:
  • 1+ year programming experience in C#, .NET Framework
  • Web development experience with JavaScript and Angular
  • Experience in optimization mathematics (linear/nonlinear optimization)
  • Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Adept at handling ambiguous problems and thinking abstractly
  • Solid knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals
  • Experience in Agile development, unit testing, and code reviews
  • Strong knowledge of software development tools (GitHub, JIRA, Visual Studio)

Job Description

McDonald’s, one of the most recognized brands in the world, is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to own the development of our Kiosk technology as part of Commercial Product & Platform organization. The Commercial Product & Platform vision develops global technology products and platforms that delight our customers and enable our crews to operate our restaurants reliably and effectively.

The Software Engineer I role reports to the Sr Engineering Manager, Chapter Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing and maintenance of the McDonald’s Kiosk software. Restaurant Technology software includes application user interface, API layer software, data management, and data communication with external systems. The software needs to meet stringent reliability and performance requirements as well as the needs of our customers.

The biggest area of increase in our spending has been technology, which is helping to drive our growth. We’re looking at how to use technology to improve the customer experience and build new customer experiences. We’re also exploring technologies that can help us reduce or eliminate repetitive tasks and make employees’ jobs more interesting and rewarding. With all the new projects and initiatives, it is an exciting time to be on the team that is helping to make a Better McDonald's!

 

What You’ll Do:

  •  Collaborate, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  •  Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
  •  As a software development engineer, you will play a pivotal role in development of product features from beginning to end.
  •  Working in a software development team for Restaurant software applications that support the design and development of new functionality.
  •  Contribute to all aspects of the agile development life cycle including design, development, documentation, testing and operations, and actively participating in and executing the Scrum process.
  •  Design, implement, test, deploy and maintain innovative software solutions for web applications.
  •  Use software engineering best practices to ensure a high standard of quality and create innovative software solutions to transform service performance, durability, cost, and security.

Qualifications

  • +1 year programming experience using C#, .NET + Framework, and front-end languages and frameworks.
  •  Experience with web development with languages and frameworks such as JavaScript and Angular.
  •  Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization.
  •  Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  •  Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined problems as well as ability to think abstractly.
  •  Solid knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures and algorithm.
  •  Experience developing software within an Agile environment, unit testing, effective code reviews, and utilizing SDLC effectively for efficiently delivery high quality software.
  •  Strong knowledge of software development tools such as GitHub, JIRA, Visual Studio or equivalent, etc.
  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills are self-driven and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  •  Highly quantitative with great judgment and passion for building a phenomenal customer experience.
