Job Summary

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the tools development and automation team supporting BioWare, Motive, Maxis, Full Circle. This Software Engineer role in the Software Quality organization works with Quality Assurance and Game Development teams to create tools and technical strategies. Our goal is to improve automation infrastructure and increase efficiencies in the Game Development and QA processes. Your expertise in managing distributed, complex environments will be vital as you focus on service observability, alerting, operational security while ensuring uninterrupted experiences at scale.
Must Have
- Operate and maintain tools, ensuring exceptional uptime and secure environments.
- First responder and driving continuous improvement based on root cause analysis.
- Develop AI, automation frameworks, tools, engine components and processes used across studios.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, operations and product teams to track, analyze and enhance quality, reliability and scalability of our services.
- Use modern software engineering processes and best practices for requirements, design, implementation, and testing.
- Create clear documentation to support workflow processes.
- Interpret requests from QA and engineering partners, account for roadblocks, and propose creative or technical solutions.
- 5+ years experience in managing distributed, scalable and resilient high-performing systems.
- C#/.NET experience.
- Experience implementing data and infrastructure security best practices.
- Experience with container workload technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm and Docker.
- Experience with several DevOps tools and methodologies.
- Experience with monitoring/observability systems such as Prometheus, Grafana and/or Datadog.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery, using pipeline automation systems such as Jenkins, GitLab and GitHub.
- Experience working on game engines like Unreal or large commercial game engines.
- Experience working on an agile team to deliver technology.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer, Software Engineering, Computer Science Degree or related concentration, equivalent and/or combination of education and work experience.

You will work with multiple existing systems, some developer here, some developed externally. This will require collaborating with lots of different teams within EA. You will report into the Technical Director.

- Interpret requests from your QA and engineering partners, account for and call out any roadblocks or efficiencies your partners may not consider and propose and apply your creative or technical solutions.
Qualifications
- 5+ year experience in managing distributed, scalable and resilient high-performing systems
- C#/.NET experience (C++ an asset)
- Experience implementing data and infrastructure security best practices.
- Experience with container workload technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm and Docker.
- Experience with several DevOps tools and methodologies.
- Experience with monitoring/observability systems such as Prometheus, Grafana and/or Datadog.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery, using pipeline automation systems such as Jenkins, GitLab and GitHub.
- Experience working on game engines like Unreal or large commercial game engines.
- Experience working on an agile team to deliver technology.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer, Software Engineering, Computer Science Degree or related concentration, equivalent and/or combination of education and work experience.
- Experience with cloud native and container infrastructure an asset
- Experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch an asset
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *\$100,000 - \$139,500 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
