Job Description

As a Software R&D Engineer II, you will contribute to the development of acoustic and vibration analysis and post-processing features within the Ansys ecosystem. You will collaborate with a team of experts, write high-quality code in Python and C++, and participate in bug verification, testing, and documentation. The role involves understanding customer requirements and ensuring the product meets marketing and performance goals. Experience in signal processing, acoustics, and NVH is beneficial.
Must have:
  • BS in Engineering or related field with 2-5 years experience.
  • Skilled in Python and C++.
  • Good understanding of signal processing for time signals.
  • Familiarity with development tools under Windows OS.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken.
  • Rigor, curiosity, and open mindset
Good to have:
  • Experience with CAE tools, like Ansys Mechanical.
  • Knowledge in signal processing, acoustics and NVH.
  • Knowledge of UML and object-oriented technologies.
  • Basic understanding of the software development process.
  • Experience with an agile development process.
  • Familiar with GitHub and Azure DevOps CI/CD process

R&D Engineer II – Acoustic and vibration post-processing

 

Summary / Role Purpose

As part of the Sound R&D team, you will participate in the development of acoustic and vibration analysis and post-processing features and tools within the Ansys ecosystem (Ansys Sound and related NVH products). The team oversees the development of the core algorithms, the signal processing tools, some graphical user interface for Ansys Sound and the open-source project PyAnsys Sound.

In this role you will collaborate with a team of experts to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives, to develop quality code in Python and C++, well-documented and tested.

A knowledge of Ansys Mechanical, its NVH and acoustic features is a plus. It is valuable to possess experience or a good understanding of the acoustic and vibration measurement and testing fields in the industry.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub systems.
  • Understands and employs best practices.
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager.

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2-5 years experience, OR: Master / Engineering degree with 1 year of work experience OR: PhD
  • Skilled in Python, C++
  • Good understanding of signal processing for time signals (FFT, STFT, filtering, etc.)
  • Familiarity with development tools under Windows OS: Visual Studio, VS Code, git, Azure DevOps
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Rigor, curiosity, and open mindset - ability to learn quickly and to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with CAE tools, like Ansys Mechanical, Workbench, in particular acoustics solvers
  • Knowledge in signal processing, acoustics and NVH
  • Knowledge of UML and object-oriented technologies
  • Basic understanding of the software development process
  • Experience with an agile development process
  • Familiar with GitHub and Azure DevOps CI/CD process and maintenance
