Specialized Instructor

This position is for a Specialized Instructor supporting the NNSA's Office of Secure Transportation (OST / NA-15). Responsibilities include demonstrating expertise in designated DOE courses, potentially assigned primary and secondary training duties like firearms/marksmanship and tactics. The role requires a high degree of physical fitness for strenuous training activities in various environments. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in their respective areas, with demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in specialized tactical disciplines.

Must Have

• Five years minimum experience in respective areas
• Demonstrated knowledge of concepts, principles, techniques, and practices of disciplines
• Field practical experience in Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Scoped Precision Rifles, Urban Warfare, Vehicle Assault Operations, Live-Fire Shoot House Operations, and Explosive, Shotgun, and Mechanical Tactical Entry Techniques
• Current DOE L or DoD Secret security clearance
• HS Diploma+

• Current DOE Q or DoD Top Secret security clearance
• Designated Marksman Basic Course – NNSA Office of Secure Transportation-Specific Course
• Special Response Force Certification Course – NNSA Office of Secure Transportation-Specific Course
• DOE approved Live Fire Shoot House Instructor Certification
• Basic Instructor Training (BIT) – Certification through DOE or FLETC
• Certification in Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
• Firearms Instructor Certification (FIC) – Certification through DOE or FLETC
• FLETC or DHS-recognized Tactical Explosive Entry Course
• Law Enforcement Control Tactics (LECT) (FLETC) for the General Instructors, Type I assigned
• Law Enforcement Fitness Coordinator Training Program (FLETC) for the General Instructors, Type I assigned
• Controller Training – OST-Specific Training
• Certification in First Aid
• Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

This position supports the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Secure Transportation (OST / NA-15). NNSA is a semi-autonomous entity under the Department of Energy (DOE) that supports the Department of War’s nuclear weapon enterprise.

Alternate Locations: Albuquerque, NM; Oak Ridge, TN; Amarillo, TX

Travel: Up to 20%

Security Clearance required: Current DOE L or DoD Secret.

Security Clearance preferred: Current DOE Q or DoD Top Secret.

Responsibilities:

Specialized Instructors shall demonstrate and possess the proper experience, qualifications, and certifications for all designated DOE courses. Instructors may be assigned both primary and secondary training duties to support training requirements as needed. For example, an instructor may be assigned primary duties as a firearms/marksmanship instructor and a secondary duty as a tactics instructor. Instructors will also be subject to strenuous training activities that require a high degree of physical fitness that allows the individual to work in a broad range of training environments and conditions. This mastery must be result of both classroom training and field practical experience.

Requirements:

Specialized Instructor must have five years minimum experience in their respective areas and will have demonstrated knowledge of the concepts, principles, techniques, and practices of the disciplines in their respective areas. Will interface with federal supervisors and federal training staff. This mastery must be result of both classroom training and field practical experience in Close Quarters Battle (CQB), Scoped Precision Rifles, Urban Warfare, Vehicle Assault Operations, Live-Fire Shoot House Operations, and Explosive, Shotgun, and Mechanical Tactical Entry Techniques.
