The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Backend Software Engineer with a strong Java background to join our Order Management System (OMS) team in Trading!

We’re building a scalable, tax-efficient trading & rebalancing platform for wealth management firms of all sizes. The platform will target sophisticated rebalancing strategies across equities, mutual funds and fixed income products and send trades to be completed in the market.

We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Engineering manager who will build an inclusive team culture, empower engineers to succeed and foster an environment that creates high quality engineering processes and product delivery. You are passionate about technology and can amplify your technical knowledge via your team. You’ll work closely with our product and design teams to deliver great products for our clients.

Our engineering team primarily works in Java, Python and React, but we don’t require experience with any specific tool set. We use Agile methodologies to deliver impactful business outcomes.

What You’ll Do

• Work in partnership with engineering partners and other platform users to identify requirements and priorities, and map out solutions for challenging technology and workflow problems
• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality Java applications that integrate with various data sources and services
• Build technical skills in a high-performing team of engineers in India who can design, develop, and deploy Java-based solutions with a focus on backend services and APIs, and help other teams at Addepar build on top of the Addepar platform
• Lay a solid foundation of the software architecture for the team in system design and code development with a strong focus on Java and related technologies

Who You Are

• B.S., or M.S. in Computer Science or similar technical field of study (or equivalent practical experience)
• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Expert-level proficiency in backend development, with a focus on Java.
• Good experience on AWS or any other cloud platform
• Experience with databases, SQL, NoSQL, OLAP, and/or data lake architectures
• A strong ownership mentality and drive to solve the most important problems
• Passion for implementing standard processes with a bias toward smart automation
• A rapid learner with robust analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Comfortable working in a cloud context, with automated infrastructure and service-oriented architecture
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and related technologies is preferred
• Practical knowledge of agile practices with an outlook that prioritizes experimentation and iteration combined with an ability to guide teams toward activities and processes that facilitate optimal outcomes
