Job Description

The Design Partner acts as the pivotal link between Business Units and Design teams. The role drives an experience-forward, User First approach to product development by shaping compelling value propositions and ensuring design excellence. This is a dual role—leading design collaboration while mentoring small/ mid-sized design teams. Key responsibilities include creative collaboration, design delivery & stakeholder management, research, innovation, strategy design, and mentoring the design team.
Must have:
  • Actively engage with design, PLM, and Engineering teams for creative aspects.
  • Identify and engage stakeholders across Design, PLM, and Engineering.
  • Partner with PLMs to define goals, priorities, and release roadmaps.
  • Manage qualitative and quantitative aspects of design output.
  • Set context for design teams, break down vision into actionable outcomes.
  • Align design deliverables with EPICs, STORIES, and sprints.
  • Represent design in reviews, workshops, and leadership presentations.
  • Track progress, resolve conflicts, safeguard design integrity, and refine processes.
  • Build a pipeline for innovation with early ideating & experimenting.
  • Focus on IP creation and new paradigms in interaction design.
  • Track socio-economic, geopolitical, and tech trends for business impact.
  • Curate insights into new value propositions and IP opportunities.
  • Facilitate ideation workshops, develop POVs/POCs, and partner with Engineering for prototyping.
  • Present narratives to leadership to influence product strategy.
  • Review design output quality and provide actionable feedback.
  • Guide team skill-building and adoption of new tools, methods, and trends.
  • Encourage innovation, IP creation, and professional development.
  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in design or Business Management degree.
  • 8–10 years in UI/UX across web and mobile.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, design thinking, value proposition creation, and trend analysis.
  • Familiarity with business models, performance metrics, and product development processes.
  • Strong articulation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and advocate for user-centricity.
  • Relationship-building with cross-functional stakeholders.
Good to have:
  • Combination of formal academic qualification of Design and MBA.
  • Trained at leading design/business schools.
  • Exposure to Energy Management, Renewable Energy, Embedded, or Telecom domains.
  • Experience with global teams and diverse workstreams.
  • Engagement in patents, publications, seminars, or startup/academic ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for new skills, tools, and emerging trends.

The Design Partner acts as the pivotal link between Business Units and Design teams. The role drives an experience-forward, User First approach to product development by shaping compelling value propositions and ensuring design excellence. This is a dual role—leading design collaboration while mentoring small/ mid-sized design teams.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes (What the Person needs to accomplish in the role ?)

  • Creative collaboration | Actively engaging with the respective design teams and relevant PLM + Engg team/s for all the creative aspects
  • Identify and engage stakeholders across Design, PLM, and Engineering.
  • Partner with PLMs to define goals, priorities, and release roadmaps.
  • Co-create visioning workshops, define deliverables, and align design planning.
  • Design Delivery & stakeholder Management | Manage the qualitative and quantitative aspects of design output to maintain healthy collaborative atmosphere.
  • Set context for design teams, break down vision into actionable outcomes.
  • Align design deliverables with EPICs, STORIES, and sprints.
  • Represent design in reviews, workshops, and leadership presentations.
  • Track progress, resolve conflicts, safeguard design integrity, and refine processes.
  • Research, innovation, and Strategy design | Building a pipeline for “innovation on tap” with early ideating & experimenting and a focus on IP creation; and new paradigms in interaction design, experiences, media
  • Track socio-economic, geopolitical, and tech trends for impact on business.
  • Curate insights into new value propositions and IP opportunities.
  • Facilitate ideation workshops, develop POVs/POCs, and partner with Engineering for prototyping.
  • Present narratives to leadership to influence product strategy.

  • Review design output quality and provide actionable feedback.
  • Guide team skill-building and adoption of new tools, methods, and trends.
  • Encourage innovation, IP creation, and professional development.

Qualifications: Education, Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Behaviour) and Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications | Domain
  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in design with 8–10 years in UI/UX across web and mobile, OR Business Management degree with strong & demonstratable track record of closely partnering with design teams.
  • Deep understanding of UX principles, design thinking, value proposition creation, and trend analysis.
  • Familiarity with business models, performance metrics, and product development processes.
  • Minimum Qualifications | Soft skills
  • Strong articulation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and advocate for user-centricity.
  • Relationship-building with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Combination of formal academic qualification of Design and MBA will be a definite plus
  • Trained at leading design/business schools.
  • Exposure to Energy Management, Renewable Energy, Embedded, or Telecom domains.
