The Impact of a Sr. DevOps Engineer, Observability to Coupa:
Joining the team as a Sr. DevOps Engineer on the Observability team will provide you the opportunity to make a huge impact in a high growth company. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team, focusing on the critical area of Observability. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our observability strategy, ensuring we have deep insights into the performance, health, and behavior of our systems and applications. You will leverage your expertise to build and improve monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions, empowering our teams to proactively identify and resolve issues, optimize performance, and deliver a seamless user experience.

What You’ll Do:
- Support the implementation and migration to a consolidated observability platform for a massive-scale public cloud environment from a metrics, logs, and transaction tracing perspective
- Collaborate with teams across Coupa to instrument system, application, and business KPI monitoring, custom dashboards, and alerts
- Onboard complex data sources to an Observability tool
- Ensure that teams define alerts that are understandable, actionable, and enriched
- Contribute to creating and publishing standards/best practice documentation for monitoring and alerting
What you will bring to Coupa:
- 5+ Years in DevOps: Extensive experience in DevOps or related roles, with a strong focus on observability and large-scale web operations.
- Programming and Tools Proficiency: Ruby, Go, Java, or Python, and experienced with observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Datadog).
- Cloud Technologies: 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, including building and running full-stack cloud applications.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Expertise in creating custom dashboards, health/performance reports, and alerts using tools.
- Problem Solving & Agile: Strong problem-solving abilities, a bias for action, experience with Agile methodologies, and excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
