The Sr. Director, Head of Growth at BLK will be responsible for growing the user base, increasing MAU, and improving retention. This role involves ensuring consistent brand voice, identity, and messaging, expanding cultural relevance within the Black community, and using data-driven insights for organic and viral growth. The role combines product-led growth, brand marketing, and community engagement to drive growth with the right message and cultural impact. The person will also develop and implement strategies to attract new users organically, optimize referral programs, and work closely with various teams to ensure acquisition strategies align with user behaviors. This role demands analysis of user behavior, developing re-engagement campaigns, and strategies to increase MAU and DAU and requires a strong ability to reflect BLK’s values, mission, and cultural identity. This person will also define needs, build and scale a high-performing team, and establish feedback loops.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of experience in growth marketing.
  • Understanding of viral growth mechanics and strategies.
  • Experience in user acquisition and retention.

BLK is more than just a dating app—it’s a social and cultural hub for the Black community. Whether connecting for dating, friendships, or networking, BLK is the go-to space where Black singles and communities come together to celebrate culture, build relationships, and spark meaningful conversations.


We’re looking for a strong, senior individual with deep experience in driving growth through product & organic marketing strategies for consumer products. This person will have a deep understanding of user needs for our existing and future audience, as well as a strong perspective on what it takes to drive organic & viral growth. This is a perfect role for a hands-on, data-driven, consumer tech product & growth marketer that has an intuitive understanding of how to analyze user behavior and identify opportunities across the entire user funnel to drive organic acquisition, activation, and retention. You are eager to learn and explore, comfortable creating clarity from ambiguity, and asking “what if?” We want a creative thinker who is always chasing down big, never-done-before ideas and tactics to drive growth in bold and innovative ways.


As the BLK Head of Growth Sr. Director , you will be responsible for:


• Growing BLK’s user base, increasing MAU, and improving retention.

• Ensuring BLK’s brand voice, identity, and messaging remain consistent and authentic.

• Expanding BLK’s cultural relevance and deepening engagement within the Black community.

• Identifying and leveraging data-driven insights to drive organic and viral growth.


This highly cross-functional role blends product-led growth, brand marketing, and community engagement to ensure BLK isn’t just growing—it’s growing in the right way, with the right message and the right cultural impact.


When it comes to dating, the connection starts online, but the real magic happens once you meet in real life (IRL).  We think the same is true for creating the best platforms, so we work together IRL in our Dallas office 2 days/week.



How you'll make an impact:
  • You will develop and implement strategies to attract new users organically through word-of-mouth, viral engagement loops, and social sharing mechanisms. Optimize referral programs, social sharing incentives, and invite mechanics to increase app downloads and organic adoption. Improve virality metrics (K-Factor, referral conversion rates).
  • You will leverage influencer, content creator, and brand ambassador programs to drive awareness and first-time downloads.
  • You will work closely with Product, Performance Marketing, Design, and Analytics teams to ensure acquisition strategies align with user behaviors, optimize onboarding flows, create engaging first-time user experiences, and drive feature adoption.
  • You will design and refine the user onboarding process to ensure new users quickly understand and find value in the product. Develop onboarding messaging and engagement campaigns to encourage early user interactions and drive retention.
  • You will use data and experimentation to test and optimize activation strategies and improve activation rates (profile completion, first messages, engagement in social/community-driven features).
  • You will develop and execute re-engagement campaigns using push notifications, email marketing, and in-app content. Improve retention and engagement metrics. Develop strategies to keep users engaged and returning to the app and reduce onboarding drop-off rates.
  • You will analyze user behavior data to identify churn risks and implement solutions. Work with Product teams to identify feature updates and optimizations that enhance retention. Improve LTV (Lifetime Value) and reduce churn.
  • You will increase Monthly Active Users (MAU) and Daily Active Users (DAU), and optimize conversion rates across the user journey (signup → activation → retention).
  • You will ensure all growth initiatives reflect BLK’s values, mission, and cultural identity. Develop culturally relevant campaigns and initiatives that resonate with BLK’s audience. Maintain high brand sentiment and cultural relevance. Ensure brand consistency across all marketing and product touchpoints.
  • You will partner with senior stakeholders to define needs, with the opportunity to build and scale a high-performing team aligned to brand objectives. Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management for cross-functional initiatives, with the potential to directly oversee junior team members as the brand grows.
  • You will establish feedback loops to gather user insights and integrate them into product development and marketing strategies.

  • You have 7+ years of experience in growth marketing, product marketing, or community activation in a consumer tech or social app.
  • You have a strong understanding of viral growth mechanics, referral loops, and organic acquisition strategies.
  • You have proven experience in user acquisition, onboarding optimization, and retention strategies.
  • You have a deep knowledge of Black culture, digital trends, and social media behaviors that influence organic growth.
  • You have strong brand marketing experience, with the ability to own and protect brand voice, positioning, and messaging.
  • You have strong analytical and experimentation skills to optimize marketing initiatives.
  • You are highly adaptable and comfortable navigating rapid product and marketing testing cycles.
