Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Sr. Field Engineer for System Implementation, a full-time remote role with significant travel. This position involves leading post-sale implementation of voice and data communication systems, including configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation. The engineer will troubleshoot system defects, provide technical support for specialized applications, and optimize RF and broadband architectures. Responsibilities also include preventative maintenance, trend analysis, and developing solutions for complex technical problems, ensuring systems meet or exceed customer expectations.
Good To Have:
  • Total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques
  • Very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)
  • Proficient in computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
  • Capable of performing maintenance of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues
  • Strong knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks
  • Strong knowledge of standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet-switching techniques
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
Must Have:
  • Act as Lead Field Engineer (FE) on large projects or system upgrades
  • Direct self and other assigned project STs and mentor less experienced FEs
  • Post-sale implementation of voice and data communications systems
  • Perform specific system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks
  • Work with FEs, Tech Support, Product Groups to characterize system defects
  • Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems
  • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics
  • Provision communication system infrastructure
  • Perform performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems
  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D
  • 2+ Years of professional experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment or IT Systems
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by a US Government customer

Job Description

NOTE: Remote + Travel up to 85%

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Act as Lead Field Engineer (FE) on large projects or system upgrades, capable of directing self and other assigned project STs and able to mentor less experienced FEs.
  • Post-sale implementation of voice and data communications systems.
  • Performs specific system configuration, programming, optimization, testing, and documentation tasks.
  • Works with other FEs, Tech Support, Product Groups, and/or others to characterize system defects during system implementation and, on occasion, during the maintenance phase.
  • Team with engineering, project management and sales personnel to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems which meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Responsibilities include the optimization, support, maintenance, testing and documentation of complex communications systems.
  • Provide technical support of specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and Broadband architecture including, but not limited to, legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data infrastructure.
  • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with a focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
  • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Total familiarity with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.

Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
