Job Description

The Human Engineering Human Factors team conducts mixed-methods user research and creates actionable insights to guide the design and development of products. This role involves working at the intersection of many disciplines, on varied projects with multiple partners. Ideal candidates are passionate user advocates, technical, able to utilize and customize quantitative log collection, and intuitively relate to users. Responsibilities include applying Human Factors Engineering (HFE) techniques, developing study methodology, conducting user-centered research, and performing statistical and qualitative data analyses.
Good To Have:
  • Ability to customize data collection tools, as well as manipulate, analyze and visualize outputs
  • Experience with scripting/programming for data manipulation and research applications (e.g., R, Matlab, Python)
  • Expertise in interview techniques related to product use
  • Experience in cognitive engineering (work/task analysis, information processing)
  • Experience with human factors engagement through various stages of the product life cycle, including foundational, formative, and evaluative stages
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to support research workflows, including study design, analysis, and insights synthesis
  • 5+ years industry experience in Human Factors or User Experience Research
Must Have:
  • Expertise in creating thorough experimental designs, utilizing scientific methods
  • Mixed methods expertise to combine quantitative and qualitative research approaches
  • Relevant, proven experience in human factors and/or consumer product usability evaluation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, patience, and aesthetic sensibility
  • 3+ years industry experience in Human Factors or User Experience Research
  • Master’s degree or higher required with a concentration or extensive work in human factors, industrial engineering, cognitive engineering, human-computer interaction, or experimental psychology

The Human Engineering Human Factors team works closely with many teams around the company to conduct human centered research and create actionable insights to inform product decisions. Responsibilities include: Applying Human Factors Engineering (HFE) techniques and principles at all phases of product/technology development Exercising independent judgment in the development of study methodology, data collection efforts, data analysis, conclusions, and design recommendations Developing user study criteria and detailed methodology for widely varied projects, spanning from formative to evaluative, and qualitative to quantitative Conducting user-centered research and evaluation on a diverse user population utilizing experimental data and scientific publications Conducting statistical and qualitative analyses of data and providing clear and concise feedback to teams in a timely manner Collaborating cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product development groups. Maintaining an active working knowledge of worldwide human factors publications and standards

Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Employees also have the opportunity to become a shareholder through participation in discretionary employee stock programs.
