Job Description

We are seeking a Staff Product Compliance Engineer specializing in Renewables, Electrical, Electromechanical, and wireless equipment compliance and certification for the North American market. This position will also support the certification efforts in other countries as needed. The role involves developing compliance requirements, leading cross-functional teams, performing product safety and grid performance testing, interpreting compliance standards, and managing certifications with NRTLs. The engineer will also contribute to developing a state-of-the-art compliance test lab.
Must have:
  • Be a product compliance expert
  • Develop compliance requirements cross-functionally
  • Lead cross-functional teams for compliance timelines
  • Achieve certification deliverables
  • Setup and perform product safety testing
  • Perform grid performance testing of Enphase products
  • Provide interpretations of compliance requirements
  • Manage and work with NRTLs
  • Produce test plans, reports, and certifications
  • Help develop a state-of-the-art compliance test lab
  • Understand UL1741, IEEE 1547, UL1998/991, UL60730
  • Understand UL9540, UL9540A, UL1973, IEC 62109-1/-2
  • Understand FCC, CE, NOM, ISED, NEC, NFPA, product regulations
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of IEC and EN standards

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Product Compliance Engineer specializing in Renewables, Electrical, Electromechanical, and wireless equipment compliance and certification for the North American market. This position will also support the certification efforts in other countries as needed.

What you will be doing

  • Be a product compliance expert and work cross-functionally to develop compliance requirements
  • Be a cross-functional team leader to achieve compliance timeline and certification deliverables
  • Setup, perform product safety and grid performance testing of Enphase products (Micro-Inverters, Battery Storage systems and Controllers)
  • Provide Interpretations of compliance requirements to design and development teams throughout product development stages
  • Manage and work with NRTLs to produce test plans, reports, and certifications
  • Help develop an art-of-the- state compliance test lab and team to support compliance activities
  • Be proficient and Team Champion of have a strong understanding of the following test standards:
  • UL1741, IEEE 1547, UL1998/991 and UL60730.
  • UL9540, UL9540A, UL1973, IEC 62109-1/-2
  • FCC, CE, NOM, ISED, NEC, NFPA, and other product regulations

Who you are and What you bring

  • BE/MS or higher in electrical engineering/related field with 8+ years of exceptional product testing, compliance and homologation skills
  • 5+ years of experience taking multiple products through certification and homologation process
  • Can do all mindset and energy
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems and a strong understanding of how to solve complex product compliance challenges
  • Hands-on experience with Test equipment: O-scope, Power Analyzer, Hi-pot, High Current/Voltage Source, DAQ systems, thermal chambers, RLC loads, etc
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant National, UL, International, Grid connection and National Electric Codes standards. Knowledge of IEC and EN standards would be an advantage
  • Experience with electrical abuse/safety testing using high current switch controls, high voltage DC sources, and battery module thermal testing chambers
