In this crucial role, you will be responsible for crafting immersive mission experiences, designing mission flow and objectives from end to end. Utilizing Unreal Engine, you will create and populate objectives, develop variations, and maintain the logic that governs mission assembly, progression and pacing. You will work collaboratively with various teams to ensure all needs are met, combining level design, content design, and encounter design expertise to deliver a seamless player experience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement mission objectives, ensuring a cohesive flow and engaging player experiences.
  • Communicate and drive the vision for missions to fellow team members, so they are able to contribute in the collaborative process of creating high quality missions.
  • Populate mission objectives and determine their variations, assembling and maintaining the logic governing mission progression.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to specify mission and tools requirements
  • Work closely with teams responsible for play spaces,  encounters, and UI to ensure all goals are met for mission design.
  • Author and maintain different mission templates and classes to provide a variety of experiences.
  • Ensure that all mission components, including objectives and encounters, are seamlessly integrated within the play space.
  • Conduct iterative testing and refinement of missions to optimize player engagement and satisfaction.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in mission design and Unreal Engine, incorporating innovative solutions into our games.
  • Work closely with leadership and narrative staff to ensure missions reflect the story, tone, and setting of the game.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of focused experience in mission, quest, dungeon, or public event design on a multiplayer title.
  • Proficient in using Unreal Engine for game development.
  • Strong understanding of mission flow, objective design, and encounter integration.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining game logic for mission assembly and progression.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in mission design for AAA shooter or action titles.
  • Familiarity with Blueprint, similar visual scripting languages, or text-based scripting.
  • Experience in designing systems that support various gameplay mechanics and objectives.
  • Passion for gaming with a deep understanding of player psychology and engagement.
  • Experience authoring in-game narrative content and mission dialogue.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality mission designs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to innovate and think outside the box.

 

 

Comp Range: The expected annual base pay ranges reflected in this job description are applicable to individuals residing in or working within a designated location. Any final compensation offer will depend on various factors. As part of an overall package, NetEase employees can take advantage of NetEase's comprehensive benefits and discretionary incentive plans, provided that they comply with the policies and guidelines governing those programs. This role has a base salary range of USD120,000 -  USD160,000 if the hire will be based in the US.
