Job Description

As a Staff Data Analyst in the Messaging team, you will be responsible for quantitative insights, from understanding data and identifying problems to working with product, tech, and design on hypothesizing solutions. You will drive experimentation and learning efforts. You will have opportunities to work with other teams and executives. Your responsibilities include understanding Truecaller's data, taking ownership of quantitative insights, defining and analyzing experiments, developing and maintaining KPIs, creating data pipelines and dashboards, and coaching the team on data-driven product development. With over 400 million users, the messaging team sits at the very core of the Truecaller experience.
Good To Have:
  • Big data query tools (like BigQuery)
  • Experience with data from mobile applications
Must Have:
  • 6-10 years of experience in Data Analytics
  • Experience in using SQL to extract, transform and analyze data
  • Experience in data visualization tools
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching about data in product development
  • Experience in digging into different data sources to understand customer behaviours
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

We, in the Messaging team, own everything under the messaging domain at Truecaller - building, transforming, and optimizing existing and new features to make messaging more reliable and secure for our users. With over 400 million users, we operate one of the world's largest Instant Messaging (IM) services.

As a Staff Data analyst in the Messaging team, you’ll be responsible for the team's quantitative insights. From understanding our data, identifying problems, to working with product, tech and design on hypothesizing solutions. You’ll be the driver of our experimentation and learning efforts. Messaging team sits at the very core of Truecaller experience, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to work with other teams and the executives.

The impact you will create:  

  • Understanding Truecaller's data, particularly related to the Messaging team.
  • Taking ownership of quantitative insights for the Messaging team, playing a crucial role in product development.
  • Defining experiments, overseeing their setup, and analyzing their results to drive decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team, ensuring their tracking, reliability, and reporting.
  • Creating data pipelines and dashboards to measure the team's KPIs and effectively communicate insights to both the team and leadership.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team on experimentation and data-driven product development processes, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.

What you bring in:  

  • 6-10 years experience in Data Analytics
  • Experience in using SQL to extract, transform and analyse data
  • Experience in data visualisation tools  like Looker (preferred), QlikSense, Tableau, or PowerBI
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching and evangelsing about data in product development
  • Experience in digging into different data sources to understand why specific customer behaviours happen
  • Fluent in spoken and written English

It would be great if you also have:

  • Big data query tools (we use BigQuery).
  • Experience with data from mobile applications.
