Summary

As a Staff Software Engineer at Infoblox, you'll design and develop software for enterprise and service provider solutions using C and Linux. You'll be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment within an Agile/Scrum environment. Responsibilities include developing features for next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services, writing unit and functional tests, optimizing software performance, collaborating with QA, and handling customer escalations. A strong background in C programming, Linux systems, networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, OSPF, BGP, IPv6), and multi-threaded programming is essential.
Must have:
  • 12+ years C programming experience in Linux/Unix environment
  • Strong Linux kernel & OS internals knowledge
  • Excellent network, socket & multi-threaded programming
  • DNS & DHCP protocol experience
  • Agile/Scrum development methodology
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware)
  • Microservices architecture and container experience (Docker)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science/related field

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team located in Bangalore, reporting to the senior director of Engineering. In this role, you will develop features for Infoblox’s next-generation DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (DDI) services. You will utilize your experience and creativity to influence technology direction and decisions while ensuring that our products are best-of-breed. What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop software for Enterprise & Service Provider solutions using C and Linux
  • Develop unit and functional tests for continuous integration and deployment in a modern CI/CD environment
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum development methodology to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test
  • Partner with peer engineers in a highly collaborative environment
  • Benchmark, optimize, and fine-tune software performance
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to investigate and fix defects
  • Handle customer escalations and debug issues to fix bugs

What you’ll bring:

  • 12+ years of experience in software development in C programming in a Linux or Unix environment
  • Solid systems background and knowledge of Linux kernel and OS internals, GNU toolchain, and debugger knowledge
  • Excellent network, socket, and multi-threaded programming required; experience working in DNS and DHCP protocols is a plus
  • Superb development and problem-solving skills are required
  • In-depth working knowledge Linux platform services, performance analysis, and in kernel level debugging using gdb and other tools
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, OSPF, BGP, IPv6, DHCP, and DNS protocol
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere and vCloud Director is a plus
  • Experience in micro services architecture and container-based software using Docker and other container technologies is a plus
  • Experience in Agile methodologies with software development lifecycle experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent is required; master’s degree preferred
