Job Description

As a Strategic Insights & Research Analyst, you will design and deliver impactful research projects to understand customers and drive smarter decisions. Reporting to the Senior Research Manager, you will use data to enhance customer experiences, improve marketing effectiveness, and support strategic decision-making. This involves designing market intelligence projects, analyzing data from various sources, managing surveys and interviews, and creating data visualizations to provide actionable insights for marketing, commercial, and attendee teams.

Must Have:
  • Design and deliver market intelligence and research projects using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Take ownership of comprehensive competitive intelligence (CI) research plans
  • Analyze registration data, historical trends, and competitor intelligence
  • Interpret data, identify trends, and provide innovative recommendations
  • Integrate and analyze diverse data sources (surveys, market research, registration data)
  • Manage and execute surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus groups
  • Use tools like Power BI, Excel, and Qualtrics dashboards for data analysis and visualization
  • Create personalized dashboards and develop visualizations that tell a story
  • Offer data-driven advice to stakeholders and analyze gaps in audience/market data
  • Partner with marketing, commercial, and attendee teams to deliver insights
  • Contribute to the insights team, driving collaboration and ensuring insights are visible

This is a maternity leave cover position for 4 months

Role Overview

Are you passionate about uncovering insights that drive customer-focused strategies? As a Strategic Insights & Research Analyst, you’ll play a key role in designing and delivering impactful research projects that help us better understand our customers and make smarter decisions. Reporting to the Senior Research Manager and working closely with a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you’ll use data to enhance customer experiences, improve marketing effectiveness, and support strategic decision-making. You’ll also collaborate with marketing, commercial, and attendee hubs to deliver insights that optimize audience targeting, segmentation, and forecasting.

What You’ll Be Doing

Research and Insights Generation

  • Design and deliver market intelligence and research projects using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Take ownership of comprehensive competitive intelligence (CI) research plans, ensuring smooth delivery from strategy to execution.
  • Dive deep into registration data, historical trends, and competitor intelligence to uncover growth opportunities and actionable insights.
  • Be a forward-thinker by interpreting data, identifying trends, and providing innovative recommendations to drive audience and business development.
  • Analyze the drivers behind trends (e.g., exhibitor decline or promoter reasoning) by combining data sources, qualitative feedback, and competitive intelligence.
  • Integrate and analyze diverse data sources—surveys, market research, registration data, and historical datasets—to improve targeting, segmentation, and audience engagement.

Quantitative and Qualitative Research

  • Manage and execute surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus groups to gather valuable feedback from internal and external audiences.
  • Connect survey data to audience behaviors, creating recommendations that align with marketing and sales goals.
  • Revisit and leverage previous reports to address new business questions and ensure historical insights are used effectively.

Data Analysis and Visualization

  • Use tools like Power BI, Excel, and Qualtrics dashboards to analyze and visualize data in a clear, impactful way.
  • Create personalized dashboards that make it easy for teams to extract insights and make data-driven decisions.
  • Develop visualizations that tell a story—highlighting customer journeys, pain points, personas, and audience segmentation.
  • Continuously improve reporting techniques to ensure stakeholders have access to actionable insights.
  • Provide regular updates and tailored dashboards to meet the specific needs of stakeholders.

Strategic Support and Recommendations

  • Offer data-driven advice to stakeholders, helping them answer strategic questions and identify growth opportunities.
  • Analyze gaps in audience and market data, providing actionable recommendations to improve engagement, lead generation, and customer satisfaction.
  • Showcase event value over time by highlighting trends and key metrics.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with marketing teams to deliver insights that shape campaign strategies, audience segmentation, and forecasting.
  • Work with commercial and attendee hubs to analyze and present data that supports better targeting and audience growth.
  • Provide tailored analyses of industry trends, event features, and audience pain points to guide strategic decisions.
  • Share insights across teams and regions to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to enhance analytical capabilities and ensure insights are actionable.

Team Growth and Peer Collaboration

  • Be a key contributor to the insights team, driving collaboration and ensuring insights are visible and actionable across the organization.
  • Help build a growth-focused team that combines technical analysis with clear, strategic communication.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

  • Expertise in research tools like Qualtrics and Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to connect data from multiple sources to create actionable insights.
  • A talent for data visualization—presenting findings in a way that’s clear, engaging, and impactful.
  • A growth mindset, always eager to learn and adapt to new tools and methodologies.

Your Background

  • A Master’s degree in Marketing, Data Science, Market Research, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in market intelligence, customer insights, or a similar analytical role.
  • Proven experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Advanced skills in experience management and survey platforms.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry is a bonus.
