Job Description

About AECOM and People + Place Advisory

Integrated among AECOM’s team of global experts, People + Place Advisory (PPA) is a strategic consultancy with a focus on optimizing the user experience through planning and design of physical spaces. Our practice has a 50-year legacy optimizing the relationship between people, place, and performance. We are a multi-disciplinary team of strategists who bring an evidence-based and user-centered design approach to our clients’ challenges, helping them elevate the experience of their spaces. PPA generates innovative solutions for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to local and national governments to essential providers of social infrastructure, such as universities and transportation centers.

About the role:

As a Strategy Consultant, you will support teams across multiple strategy and design projects under the direct supervision of project leads, and/or senior consultants. Your main responsibilities may include user research, data analysis, space programming and planning, test fits, professional reports, presentations for client engagement, and workshop creation and facilitation. As part of a global strategy and design studio, you will participate in team meetings and contribute to studio-building initiatives such as knowledge shares and internal initiatives.

Nearly all PPA’s projects serve external and internal clients, so you will learn how to engage with clients effectively and be expected to deliver high-quality, professional work products for client use. A large portion of PPA’s projects focus on workplace strategy and change management, and you will primarily support workplace and change management engagements while also contributing to user experience initiatives across a range of industries. Our clients are mainly located throughout the U.S., with some opportunities also arising globally. While most work will be performed out of your local AECOM office and/or virtually, you may be expected to travel up to 15 percent of the time.

This role will be tied to one of PPA’s primary studio locations - New York, Boston, Washington D.C., or Los Angeles - and the successful candidate will be required to work with teammates in the office part of the time (TBD in consultation with the new hire’s supervisor).

This role is for you if you are interested in improving occupant experience through the built environment and are willing to jump in to help your team. You communicate effectively through written and spoken word, as well as through images and infographics. You are comfortable supporting client-facing engagements, such as interviews, focus groups, workshops, and presentations. You take initiative to stay on top of industry trends and learn new tools and skills to better support our team and our clients.

You thrive in a fast-paced, creative environment, and can juggle multiple projects with the support of teammates and managers. You anticipate the needs of clients, teammates, and deliverables, and you know when to take action and when to ask questions. You are a thinker—thoughtful and even critical, when appropriate—who brings new perspectives, enjoys sharing ideas, and has an interest in working with data. Most importantly, you care about supporting your teammates, serving our clients, producing top-caliber work products, and delivering positive impact.
