Job Description

Hogarth is seeking an experienced Talent Manager for its Language Services team in Chennai, India. The role involves end-to-end freelance talent acquisition, including recruiting creative directors, translators, proofreaders, copywriters, and editors for international markets. Key responsibilities include managing the talent database, tracking performance, handling contracts and documentation, resolving queries, and negotiating rates. The manager will also focus on improving recruitment processes and maintaining industry knowledge to ensure excellent customer experience.
Good To Have:

Must Have:
  • 2-4 years’ experience recruiting in international markets.
  • Fluent written and spoken English (near-native level).
  • Demonstrable client / stakeholder communication experience.

  • Competent in recruiting on LinkedIn and any other recruitment sites.
  • Responsible for recruiting all new freelance creative directors, translators, proofreaders, copywriters and editors.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date freelancer talent database.
  • Tracking freelancer performance and addressing issues.
  • Managing NDAs and client-specific contracts for freelancers.
  • Handling all necessary documentation for new talents.
  • Responding to freelancer queries regarding Wordbee and finance.
  • Negotiating freelancer rates based on account or standard rates.
  • Creating reports on key talent metrics like sourcing, testing, and usage.
  • Understanding of CMS, Translation Management Systems, Terminology Management.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Languages, Translation studies or similar.
  • Ability to work 9am – 6pm UK time, Monday to Friday.

The role

We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Talent Manager (TM) with a can-do attitude, a willingness to learn and the desire to make your own opportunities as you grow with us.

As a Talent Manager in our Language Services team, your role is varied and rewarding. You will work closely with our in-country talents and internal experts to ensure a deep understanding of your clients’ needs and deliver an excellent customer experience on each and every project.

You must be able to commit to working a 5-day week (Mon-Fri), min. 8 hours a day.

Your role includes following key responsibilities:

Client

  • Understand the specific client requirements to ensure you are recruiting the right talent for the account.

Process

  • Responsible for recruiting all new freelance creative directors, translators, proofreaders, copywriters and editors, including the testing and evaluation process
  • Ensure the freelancer talent database is up to date in terms of status, rates and experience so Transcreation Teams can identify the correct talent quickly and efficiently
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of our talent pool across markets and accounts
  • Tracking freelancers’ performance and working with our Transcreation Teams to overcome any performance issues (further testing, clearer briefings, reminder of terms of engagement, etc.)
  • Support the account teams and global offices in searching for talent
  • Ensure terms are agreed by all new freelancers before starting to work with us
  • Manage NDA’s and/or any other client specific contracts that need to be approved by freelancers before commencement of our collaboration
  • Manage all necessary documentation for new talents (New Supplier Forms (NSF), login details, etc.)
  • Respond to freelancers’ queries regarding Wordbee issues (set up, login, profile amendments, etc.) and forward any technical issues to the CAT Ops team
  • Respond to internal and external requests regarding Wordbee and freelancer resources quickly and efficiently
  • Deal with any finance queries from our writers/freelancers and escalate any major issues to the relevant Transcreation Account Manager, line manager or finance team member
  • Ensure all relevant information across accounts and markets is stored correctly in the server (tests, CVs, talent details, portfolios, NSFs, etc.)
  • When required, train employees on the recruitment process, including the testing and evaluation phases and the on-going monitoring of our freelancers’ performance
  • Constantly look for new recruitment sources – further develop relationships with key universities, raise profile of Hogarth via networking and presentations
  • Continue to improve the Talent Management processes to ensure we work with the best talents in the market

Finance

  • Negotiate freelancers’ rates according to specific account rates or Hogarth standard rates
  • Ensure payment issues are resolved swiftly and efficiently, and communication with talents is handled sensitively
  • Create reports about key metrics such as:
  • Talent sourcing
  • Testing and Evaluation
  • Number of new freelancers recruited by account, by market, per month/quarterly
  • Rates negotiated with new talent
  • Average rates per account, per market (compare across accounts/industry standards – negotiate where applicable)
  • Usage of talent – number of projects per freelancer, per account, per market – negotiate bulk deals if high/increased volume of work

Professional development

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the translation industry trends regularly
  • Work towards goals agreed in personal development plan with the Global Lead, ensuring all L&D goals can be met within agreed timeframe

Requirements

  • Must have 2-4 years’ experience recruiting in international markets
  • Fluent level of written and spoken English (near-native level)
  • Demonstrable client / stakeholder communication experience
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Competent in recruiting on LinkedIn and any other recruitment sites
  • Ideally have experience recruiting Creative Directors, Copywriters, Translators and/or Proofreaders worldwide
  • Strong and demonstrable planning, prioritising and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly responsive to customer needs with a solution-led focus
  • Sharp attention to detail
  • Good understanding of the concepts and features of industry applications: CMS, Translation Management Systems and Terminology Management
  • Highly computer literate
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team with a minimum of supervision
  • Flexible and open to change and able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Languages, Translation studies or similar
  • Mandatory working hours to be followed: 9am – 6pm UK time
