Advanced Systems Group, LLC is seeking Technical Directors/Video Engineers (V1s) for future onsite, per-project opportunities in Austin, TX. This non-exempt role involves collaborating with production teams, switching video signals, programming switchers/routers, operating camera and graphics systems, conducting rehearsals, and performing equipment checks for live events. Candidates need strong knowledge of broadcast technology and the ability to adapt to rapid changes in a live environment.
Must Have:
  • Collaborate with the Director, Producer, Show Caller, and/or client to understand video requirements.
  • Switch incoming video signals for broadcast.
  • Program video switcher and/or router.
  • Work closely with camera operators to ensure shots are framed correctly.
  • Operate PTZ camera systems and Graphics/other video systems.
  • Conduct rehearsals with the production team, making necessary adjustments.
  • Take direction from the stage manager or show caller.
  • Perform thorough pre-event checks to guarantee equipment functionality.
  • Test all show playback elements for proper play out.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Technical Director and/or V1, preferably for large or high-profile events.
  • Experience in live event corporate settings, working with high-level talent.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast and production technology (e.g., Ross Carbonite, Black Magic, Grass Valley, Analog Way Aquilon, Disguise, Evertz EQX10 Video Router, Lightware HDMI Router, Megapixel Helios Processing, Barco E2 Screen Management, Imagine Platinum MX Video Router, Sony MVS-3000A 1 M/E Switcher).
  • Thorough understanding of video transport standards.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to rapid show-flow changes in a live and fluid environment.
  • Willingness to travel to the project site.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required by production schedule.

We are seeking Technical Directors/Video Engineers (V1s) to join our talent network and be considered for future onsite opportunities in Austin, TX. This non-exempt role works on a per-project basis. Sometimes projects are one day, sometimes longer.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Producer, Show Caller, and / or client to understand the video requirements of each production.
  • Switch incoming video signals, as appropriate, for broadcast
  • Program video switcher and / or router as needed.
  • Work closely with camera operators to ensure shots are framed correctly.
  • Operate PTZ camera systems, as needed
  • Operate Graphics and other video systems, as needed.
  • Conduct rehearsals with the production team, making necessary adjustments to equipment setup and cue sheets.
  • Take direction from the stage manager or show caller to ensure all cues are executed as intended.
  • Perform thorough checks before every event to guarantee all equipment is functioning and configured properly.
  • Test all show playback elements for proper play out.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Technical Director and/or V1, preferably for large or high-profile events.
  • Experience in live event corporate settings, working with high-level talent.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology, including but not limited to Ross Carbonite, Black Magic, Grass Valley, Analog Way Aquilon, Disguise, Evertz EQX10 Video Router, Lightware HDMI Router, Megapixel Helios Processing, Barco E2 Screen Management, Imagine Platinum MX Video Router, and Sony MVS-3000A 1 M/E Switcher.
  • Thorough understanding of video transport standards.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to rapid show-flow changes in a live and fluid environment.
  • Excellent control room demeanor, proven leadership skills, team-first attitude, and the ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • This role requires Travel to the project site.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions when working outdoors.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required by production schedule.

Compensation & Benefits:

This role is paid an hourly rate of $55 - $75/HR, depending on experience.
